Chandigarh, August 15: Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory of Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria hosted the traditional ‘At Home’ reception at the lawns of Punjab Lok Bhavan, Chandigarh, on the occasion of Independence Day.
The reception was attended by distinguished guests from various walks of life, including constitutional authorities, elected representatives, senior officers of the civil and police administration, members of the Armed Forces, academicians, Vice-Chancellors, heads of Boards and Corporations, doctors, journalists, industrialists and other eminent citizens.
The Governor arrived at the venue at 5:00 PM and was accorded a ceremonial welcome by the Police Band. ‘Vande Mataram’ was played, followed by the National Anthem.
Punjab Lok Bhavan was tastefully decorated to mark the national festival. Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria warmly welcomed the guests and interacted with them, exchanging greetings and pleasantries on the occasion.
The distinguished guests included Governor of Haryana Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh; Chief Minister of Punjab S. Bhagwant Singh Mann; Chief Minister of Haryana Shri Nayab Singh Saini; Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan; Speaker of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha Shri Harvinder Kalyan; Member of Parliament Shri Manish Tewari; and Member of Parliament S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.
Among the senior officers present were Punjab Chief Secretary Shri K. A. P. Sinha; Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh, Shri H. Rajesh Prasad; Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor, Punjab, Shri Vivek Pratap Singh; and Director General of Police, Punjab, Shri Gaurav Yadav.
Senior officers of the Armed Forces, Vice-Chancellors, Chairpersons of various Boards and Corporations, doctors, journalists, industrialists, officers of the civil and police administrations of Punjab and Chandigarh, and other prominent citizens were also present.
The ‘At Home’ reception provided an opportunity for people from diverse fields to come together in the spirit of national unity and camaraderie and celebrate the 80th Independence Day of the country.
