Chandigarh, September 2, 2026:Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav, IAS, today reviewed the progress of the proposed Single Window System aimed at simplifying and streamlining citizen services delivered by various departments of the Chandigarh Administration.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary, IT, Sh. D. Karthikeyan, IAS; Director, IT, Avikesh Gupta, PCS and representatives of NIC. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to prepare a revised roadmap within the stipulated timeframe, incorporating simplified service processes and rationalised documentation requirements.

During the review, Deputy Commissioner directed that all services proposed to be brought under the system be mapped and re-engineered to remove unnecessary steps, reduce repetitive procedures and minimise the need for citizens to interact with multiple departments. The objective is to make government services faster, transparent and hassle-free.

He also directed departments to review the documents required for various services and remove unnecessary or repetitive documents, wherever information can be verified through existing government databases and digital records. This is aimed at reducing the compliance burden on citizens.

The Right to Service (RTS) timelines for various services were also reviewed. Departments were directed to examine the existing timelines and reduce them wherever feasible to ensure quicker and more time-bound delivery of services.

The Deputy Commissioner further directed the concerned departments to study successful single-window and digital service delivery models in other States and Union Territories and identify best practices that can be suitably adapted for Chandigarh.

The proposed Single Window System is aimed at creating a simpler, faster, transparent and citizen-centric service delivery mechanism, enabling residents to access government services with greater ease and within clearly defined timelines.
