CHANDIGARH,29.09.26-Sh. Amandeep Singh Bhatti, ADC-cum-Secretary, Indian Red Cross
Society, U.T., Branch Chandigarh today on 29.09.2026 visited and reviewed the Plaza Baithak for Senior Citizens at Sector 17, Chandigarh, a welfare initiative of the Chandigarh Red Cross under the guidance of Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav, IAS DC-cum-Chairman. The initiative aimed at providing senior citizens with a comfortable and friendly space for leisure and social interaction.

The Plaza Baithak has recently been completely refurbished with
new chairs and tables, recreational games, umbrellas and other basic
infrastructure. The facility provides senior citizens with comfortable
seating, drinking water, newspapers and magazines, and recreational
facilities such as chess, ludo and carrom. Ms. Punam Malik, Nodal Officer who actively facilitated the refurbishment work was also present on the occasion.

During the visit, senior citizens warmly welcomed Sh. Amandeep Singh Bhatti and interacted with him regarding the facilities being provided at the Baithak. The Secretary sought their suggestions and views on further improving and expanding the initiative to make it more useful and accessible to the elderly community.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADC-cum-Secretary said that the
Chandigarh Red Cross is committed to undertaking welfare initiatives for
the well being of senior citizens and providing them with safe and comfortable spaces for social interaction. He further stated that more Senior Citizens Baithaks will be established at suitable locations across Chandigarh very soon.

The visit reaffirmed the Chandigarh Red Cross's commitment to promoting the welfare and quality of life of senior citizens.
