*“Captain Smit Machchhar, who saved the lives of 174 passengers, attributed the success not to himself but to Indian culture—a matter of pride for every Indian”: Energy Minister Anil Vij*
Chandigarh, October 2 — Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij, described Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar's act of saving 174 lives despite being injured as a source of pride for all Indians. He said that Captain Machhar is crediting “Indian culture” rather than taking the credit himself.
Whil Speaking to media persons today, Energy Minister Anil Vij said Captain Smit Machchhar has brought glory to India by averting a mid-air crash, and what is even more remarkable is that he is not claiming credit for this great deed but instead attributing it to Indian culture. “I respect Indian culture; this is a very big thing, a matter of pride and something that makes every Indian’s pride,” he said.
It is worth noting that Captain Smit Machchhar was the pilot of the flydubai flight, and his co-pilot attacked him with a knife inside the aircraft, injuring him. Despite his injuries, Captain Smit saved the lives of all 174 passengers on board.

*“The Chief Election Commissioner is doing what is right; it is his job to delete fake votes created through manipulation”: Energy Minister Anil Vij*
*“The public has rejected the Congress, which has lost several elections in a row; in their frustration, they keep making allegations—sometimes against EVMs, sometimes against the Election Commission”: Anil Vij*
*“In a democracy, the people’s decision is final; in 22 states, people have ousted opposition parties and expressed trust in the BJP”: Vij*
*“India is the greatest strength of democracy; the Congress wants to bring dictatorship and end democracy”: Vij*
Chandigarh, October 2 — Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij reacted sharply to protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Vij said that Gyanesh Kumar is doing exactly what a Chief Election Commissioner should do, so that any illegitimate person who is not entitled to vote—but has gotten their name onto the voter list through manipulation—can have their name deleted.
While Speaking to media persons today, Energy Minister Anil Vij explained that it is the Election Commission’s job to add and remove names of people who have transferred elsewhere, women who have moved after marriage, or those who have passed away. He used this opportunity to launch a sharp attack on opposition parties, especially the Congress.
Anil Vij said that the Congress party has been repeatedly rejected by the public and has lost many elections, which has left them frustrated. He mocked them, saying that just as a child who fails at school cries and blames the teacher, the classroom, or someone else, the Congress—having lost—is making allegations against EVMs and the Election Commission to cover its embarrassment. He added that they are systematically attacking all of India’s democratic institutions one after another.
He said that the Congress is being led by Rahul Gandhi, “in whose veins flows the dictatorial blood of his grandmother.” He referred to the Emergency of 1975–76, when, he claimed, all institutions and rights were dismantled. Vij asserted that the Congress wants to bring back such a system, but India does not want that because India is the greatest power of democracy and believes in democracy, not dictatorship. According to him, the Congress wants to impose dictatorship and end democracy.
Meanwhile, responding to a statement by Congress leader Kumari Selja, Energy Minister Anil Vij dismissed it as “childish.” He said that in 22 states across India, people have uprooted these parties and expressed faith in the BJP. In a democracy, the people’s verdict is final, and regardless of what leaders say or do, they must accept the public’s decision and rethink their role and that of their parties during their period of governance.
