Chandigarh, October 3, 2026:The Chandigarh Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, under the leadership of State President Jatinder Pal Malhotra, organised a cleanliness drive in Dhanas as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, being observed from September 17 to October 17 to mark the birth anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The cleanliness drive was conducted in the vending zone area of the four-storey EWS Colony in Dhanas. A large number of local residents also participated enthusiastically in the campaign and contributed through voluntary participation, turning the programme into a meaningful example of public participation.National Sah-Sangathan Mahamantri Saudan Singh, Chandigarh Mayor Saurabh Joshi, programme convenor and State Vice President Bharat Kumar, State Media In-charge Ravi Rawat, District President Sonu Sarpanch, Councillor Manoj Sonkar, former Mayor Rajesh Kalia, Mandal President and a large number of BJP workers participated in the cleanliness drive.State President Jatinder Pal Malhotra said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisioned a clean and healthy India. In 2014, after assuming office as Prime Minister, he gave a strong message of cleanliness from the ramparts of the Red Fort. Through the Swachh Bharat Mission, the construction of crores of toilets transformed cleanliness into a people’s movement. He said that cleanliness is not only the responsibility of the government but also the duty of every citizen.Mayor Saurabh Joshi said that Chandigarh is known for its cleanliness and beauty, and maintaining this identity is a collective responsibility of all citizens. He said that along with administrative efforts, active participation of citizens is essential for a cleaner Chandigarh. He appealed to citizens to make cleanliness a part of their daily routine.Through the joint efforts of BJP workers and local residents, the cleanliness drive conveyed the message that when public participation joins hands with the cleanliness mission, cleanliness becomes a people’s movement.
