Chandigarh, October 7, 2026: The Chandigarh Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party organised the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha and Seva Jyoti Yatra’ at Tiranga Park, Sector 17, today. The programme was attended by BJP Chandigarh State President Jatinder Pal Malhotra, former State President and coordinator of the ‘Seva Ke Rang’ Rangoli programme Sanjay Tandon, State General Secretary Ramveer Bhatti, Chandigarh Mayor Saurabh Joshi, programme coordinator and State Vice President Naresh Panchal, Seva Jyoti Yatra coordinator and State Vice President Raj Kishore, State Media In-charge Ravi Rawat, co-coordinator Abhay Jha, State Secretaries Manish Sharma and Sanjay Puri, along with all office-bearers, district presidents, mandal presidents, mandal workers and a large number of citizens.

The programme was graced by Padma Shri awardee Sardar Inderjit Singh Sidhu and renowned cricketer Sardar Ritender Singh Sodhi as chief guests. Sardar Inderjit Singh Sidhu lit the Seva Jyoti and formally inaugurated the Seva Jyoti Yatra.

The address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was broadcast live on the occasion. The Prime Minister reflected on 25 years of his public life, attributing the journey to the continuous blessings of the people, respect for democracy and the Constitution, and an unwavering commitment to national service. He said that the occasion was not merely a time to remember the past, but an opportunity to give renewed energy to the nation’s resolve.

The Prime Minister said that the responsibility towards the nation is greater than position, prestige or authority. Referring to his guiding principle, “Karma hi mera Dharma hai” (Duty is my Dharma), he invoked the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita—“Karmanyevadhikaraste,” “Niyatam Kuru Karma Tvam” and “Yogah Karmasu Kaushalam”—and emphasised the importance of performing one’s duties with dedication and full capability.

He called upon the country to set ambitious and far-sighted goals for a Viksit Bharat by 2047. He spoke of establishing India among the world’s leading economies, eliminating poverty, and making India a global destination in tourism, education, health and wellness, sports, innovation and technology.

The Prime Minister urged the youth to participate in nation-building with full energy and commitment. He said that the hardships faced by previous generations should not become the burden of future generations, and therefore the present generation must work with dedication. Referring to India’s historic achievements, he said that a nation which achieved the difficult goal of independence through collective resolve can also realise the goal of a developed India through the collective efforts of 1.4 billion citizens.

Reiterating the spirit of “Sabka Prayas” (collective effort), the Prime Minister infused confidence among citizens and said, “Hum karke rahenge… We will do it!” He emphasised that building a developed India is not merely the responsibility of the government, but requires the resolve, hard work and participation of every citizen.

BJP Chandigarh Pradesh President Jatinder Pal Malhotra said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25-year public life has been a journey of national service, dedication and continuous action. He said that the Prime Minister has not only given the country the goal of a developed India, but has also given the mantra of collective effort and public participation to realise it. He said that every BJP worker in Chandigarh is committed to contributing to the making of a developed India with a spirit of service.

Former Pradesh President and coordinator of the ‘Seva Ke Rang’ Rangoli programme, Sanjay Tandon, said that the vision of a developed India is not limited to economic progress, but encompasses India’s rich culture, youth power, self-reliance, modern technology and the dignity of every citizen. He said that the rangoli displayed at Tiranga Park creatively portrayed India’s development journey and transformation across various sectors.

A special rangoli depicting the vision of a developed India and various development initiatives remained a major attraction at the venue. It creatively presented the country’s development journey and the changing face of India.

Following the Prime Minister’s address, the Seva Jyoti Yatra commenced from Tiranga Park. Workers and citizens participated enthusiastically in the yatra. Carrying the message of service, nation-building and the resolve of a developed India to the people, the yatra concluded at the parking area opposite Taj Hotel.

All office-bearers of BJP Chandigarh Pradesh, district presidents, mandal presidents and a large number of party workers attended the programme. The programme conveyed the message of making service a means of nation-building and the vision of a developed India a people-driven collective resolve.
