Chandigarh, October 8:- City Mayor, Sh. Saurabh Joshi, today formally started the recarpeting work of internal roads in Cheap Houses, Sector 15-D, marking the commencement of a major road improvement project aimed at providing smoother, safer and better road infrastructure to residents.
The recarpeting work will be carried out in a phased manner, beginning with the internal roads of Sector 15-D, followed by the roads of Sector 15-A. Under the project, approximately 11.23 kilometres of roads will be recarpeted within a period of one month at an estimated cost of approximately ₹1.50 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that maintaining quality road infrastructure and ensuring better civic amenities for residents remains one of the key priorities of the Municipal Corporation. He said that the recarpeting of the roads would provide smoother and safer movement for residents and commuters and improve the overall condition of the area.
The Mayor also formally started the work for installation of house indicator boards in Cheap Houses, Sector 15-D, being undertaken at an estimated cost of ₹4 lakh.
The house indicator boards will facilitate easy identification of houses and help residents, visitors, emergency services and other service providers locate addresses conveniently, thereby improving accessibility and convenience in the locality.
The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is undertaking various road improvement and civic infrastructure works across the city with the objective of strengthening basic amenities and improving the quality of life for residents.
