Bhagwant Mann Government Cannot Escape Accountability for Punjab’s Contaminated Water: Avinash Rai Khanna

Chandigarh, October 28-Former Punjab BJP State President Avinash Rai Khanna has expressed deep concern over a report published in a newspaper stating that groundwater in six districts of Punjab—Rupnagar, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Kapurthala, SAS Nagar and Ludhiana, contains several harmful substances, including fluoride, arsenic and lead. As a result, people in these districts may be at risk of developing serious diseases such as cancer. He said that this situation is a matter of grave concern for the health and future of the people of Punjab.

In a statement issued from the party’s head office, Khanna questioned Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, saying that he makes tall claims about Punjab’s water almost every day, but the ground reality is exposing the truth behind these claims. If Punjab’s groundwater itself is becoming contaminated with harmful substances, where are the government’s policies for environmental protection and public health? He said that instead of making tall claims about water, the Chief Minister should focus on the problem of the state’s increasingly polluted water resources.

He said that the people of Punjab are already struggling with various health problems, and contaminated water could further aggravate their difficulties. The government’s responsibility is not merely to issue statements, but to ensure that people have access to clean and safe drinking water.
Khanna demanded that the government immediately conduct scientific testing of groundwater in the affected districts, make the findings public, and prepare a time-bound action plan to address the problem of contaminated water. He said that protecting Punjab’s water resources is not a matter of political propaganda, but a serious issue directly linked to people’s lives. The Chief Minister must fix accountability in this matter and take concrete action.

Mismanagement of Paddy Procurement Has Left Farmers and Commission Agents Distressed: Lakhwinder Singh Momi

Chandigarh, October 28:Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha Punjab State President Lakhwinder Singh Momi, criticised the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, stating that poor arrangements for paddy procurement and lifting at mandis across the state have aggravated the difficulties faced by farmers, commission agents and labourers. Reacting to reports emerging from Bathinda and several other cities in the Malwa region, Sareen said that the piles of paddy bags accumulating in mandis and the suspension of lifting operations have exposed the government's administrative failures.

Lakhwinder Singh Momi said that a three-day strike by the Rice Sheller Union, unseasonal rainfall and the non-availability of a special goods train for rice transportation had disrupted paddy lifting from the mandis. Despite this, the government's failure to take timely and concrete measures amounted to an injustice to farmers. Due to a shortage of space in the mandis, farmers arriving with their fresh produce are being forced to store it along roadsides, thereby disrupting traffic as well.

Lakhwinder Singh Momi demanded that the Punjab government immediately accelerate paddy lifting, ensure adequate availability of labourers and trucks, and guarantee uninterrupted procurement of farmers' produce. He said that leaving farmers to suffer in the mandis would not be tolerated and that, instead of shirking its responsibilities, the government must ensure accountability and fulfil its obligations.

Congress Is the Real Enemy of Democracy and Is Spreading Lies About SIR: Barinder Sachdeva

BJP Leaders Target Congress During ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ Padyatra in Hoshiarpur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Is the True Guardian of Democracy: Barinder Sachdeva

Hoshiarpur, October 28, 2026-The Punjab BJP organised a ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ padyatra in Hoshiarpur on Wednesday. Addressing the gathering, Barinder Sachdeva, Co-in-charge of Punjab BJP, launched a scathing attack on the Congress, saying that Rahul Gandhi has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of promoting anarchy and undermining democracy, even though, according to Sachdeva, the Congress itself has a history of undermining democratic institutions.

He recalled the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi’s grandmother, and said that democracy had suffered a severe blow during that period. He further alleged that democratic values were being undermined in states governed by the Congress. Sachdeva asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the true guardian of democracy in India today.

Among those were present former Punjab BJP State president and Union Minister of State Vijay Sampla, State Vice-President Rakesh Rathour, General Secretaries Rajesh Bagga and Jeevan Garg, former Union Minister Som Parkash, Hoshiarpur BJP District President Nitin Gupta Nannu, former MLAs K.D. Bhandari and Sheetal Angural, and several other party leaders. Thousands of BJP workers participated in the padyatra and raised slogans against the Congress.

Blaming the Election Commission for Its Own Failures
Sachdeva alleged that Rahul Gandhi is spreading falsehoods about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and attempting to shift the blame for his political failures onto the Election Commission and the revision exercise. He questioned what he described as the Congress’s double standards, alleging that the party criticises SIR when the BJP is in power but takes a different position in states such as Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, where the Congress or the Aam Aadmi Party is in power.

Democracy Under Threat in Punjab
Targeting the Aam Aadmi Party government, Sachdeva said that Punjab is among the places where democracy faced serious challenges. He alleged that the state’s drug problem had worsened under the AAP government and that the law-and-order situation had deteriorated significantly. He pointed to frequent murders and extortion demands as growing concerns, adding that the Bhagwant Mann government must be voted out in the interest of Punjab and its people.

Attempts to Destabilise India
Speaking at the event, former Punjab BJP president Vijay Sampla said that India, as the world’s largest democracy, must be protected against attempts to destabilise its democratic institutions. He acknowledged that peaceful protest is a democratic right but said that using this right as a pretext to create disorder or undermine democratic norms was unacceptable.

Former Union Minister of State Som Parkash said that India had been holding regular elections since 1952, with governments formed in accordance with the people’s mandate. He stressed that opposition parties must respect the people’s verdict and refrain from actions that could undermine the country’s peace and democratic institutions in the name of politics.

Punjab BJP Vice-President Rakesh Rathour said that the ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ campaign was aimed at safeguarding democratic values and constitutional principles. He added that the Indian Constitution provides for a change of government through elections and democratic processes, rather than through attempts to force political change by mobilising crowds on the streets.

Punjab government unable to clear outstanding electricity bills, yet spends on ‘Honest CM’ hoardings: Jewan Garg

AAP not concerned over improving Punjab's financial health but instead making state coffers empty on personal publicity: Jewan Garg

Amid Punjab’s deteriorating finances and law and order situation, Bhagwant Mann was busy enjoying his ‘Birthday Trip’ to France: Jewan Garg

Bathinda, October 28:“The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s inability to clear electricity dues worth ₹2,382 crore and instead spending crores on putting large hoardings across Punjab and portraying Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann as an ‘honest Chief Minister’ clearly shows the party’s financial priorities”, Punjab BJP, State General Secretary Jiwan Garg said on Wednesday.

While targeting the AAP government over the outstanding electricity bills of government departments, Jiwan Garg said, “The people of Punjab deserve to know why the government has allowed such a huge amount to accumulate in unpaid electricity bills. According to reports, government departments owed the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) ₹2,382.40 crore in electricity dues as of the end of July 2026. However, at a time when Punjab is facing financial challenges and serious concerns over drug abuse and law and order, Bhagwant Mann was enjoying his ‘Birthday Trip’ to France.”

“The government should disclose the expenditure incurred on the France visit and provide details of the concrete benefits it has generated for the state. Also, the government must explain why the bills of its departments have not been paid on time and what steps it is taking to clear the outstanding amount”, Jewan Garg added.

The senior BJP leader further said that Punjab's people need solutions to their problems, better public services and financial accountability rather than promotional campaigns and oversized hoardings.

BJP Slams AAP Government Over Mansa Incident; Kewal Singh Dhillon Says Punjab Is Witnessing ‘Emergency-Like’ Situation

AAP Government Resorting to Repression to Cover Up Its Failures: Dhillon

“The End of Oppression Is Near”: BJP State President Warns AAP Government

Chandigarh, October 28:Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the Mansa incident, alleging that the state is witnessing “emergency-like” conditions and that the government was using force against people to cover up its failures.

Dhillon said the AAP government has failed to curb drug abuse, with young people continuing to fall victim to the menace. He strongly condemned the alleged use of force against the family of a young man who died following drug abuse in Bhamme Kalan, Mansa, and others who were peacefully demanding justice.

He alleged that the deceased youth’s body was dragged along the roads, the turbans and kakars of Sikh men were disrespected, members of the press were mistreated, peaceful protesters were forcibly dragged away, and several people were taken into custody.

“The government that came to power promising change has crossed all limits of repression,” Dhillon said.
Referring to the demand for justice for Parwinder Singh Jhota, Dhillon alleged that instead of addressing the issue, the government had intensified its crackdown on those raising their voices against drug abuse.

“Excessive oppression inevitably leads to its own downfall. The AAP government has gone too far with its repressive actions, and its end is now near,” he warned.
Dhillon also appealed to BJP workers and people across Punjab to stand in solidarity with Bapu Bhim Singh and other affected families in their fight against drug abuse and their demand for justice.
