“MC Chandigarh’s Suvidha Camps bring water & sewer services to citizens’ doorstep”

Chandigarh, April 11:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has been actively organizing Suvidha Camps at Community Centre, Sector 35 and Manimajra, creating a single-window platform to efficiently address public grievances related to water supply and sewerage services.

These citizen-centric camps witnessed the active involvement of area councillors, including Smt. Prem Lata in Sector 35, Smt. Darshana in Ward No. 5 Manimajra, and Smt. Suman Sharma in Ward No. 4 Manimajra, who joined MC teams in directly engaging with residents and resolving their concerns.

Residents from various areas, including NIC Manimajra and Mauli Jagran Complex, participated enthusiastically and presented multiple service-related issues, out of which 11 cases were addressed on the spot with prompt guidance and resolution. The key concerns raised during the camps included replacement of smart water meters, new water connections, meter installation requests, excess water billing, conversion of commercial connections to domestic, and clarification of pending arrears. Officials provided immediate assistance, resolving several matters instantly while guiding others through proper procedures. Cases related to smart water meter replacement were referred to SBE Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. for further action.

Citizens were also sensitized about the online application process, enabling them to conveniently apply for services such as new connections, meter installations, and category changes through the designated portal. In cases of excessive billing, residents were advised to check for possible internal underground leakages, while pending arrears were clarified as dues carried forward from previous billing cycles. The strong participation from residents reflects the growing trust in this initiative, which continues to bring governance closer to the people.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparent, accessible, and efficient public service delivery, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh emphasized that such Suvidha Camps play a vital role in strengthening citizen engagement and ensuring timely resolution of civic issues at the grassroots level.
