Bhagwant Mann Has Failed to Govern Punjab; He Should Resign: Kewal Singh Dhillon
Punjab BJP President Launches Sharp Attack on Government Over the Murder of Anti-Drug Activist Parminder Singh Jhota
Chandigarh, October 13, 2026:Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon has launched a sharp attack on the Bhagwant Mann government over the murder of young anti-drug activist Parminder Singh Jhota in Mansa. Dhillon said Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had failed to govern Punjab and should resign from his post immediately. He said law and order in the state had deteriorated during Mann’s tenure, while the drug problem had spiralled out of control.
Dhillon demanded the Immidiate arrest of those responsible for Parminder Singh Jhota’s murder.
He questioned what was happening in Punjab, where murders were taking place almost every day. People raising their voices against drugs were being shot dead in broad daylight. This clearly reflected the alarming state of law and order in the state, he said.
Dhillon said Parminder Singh Jhota had been raising his voice to save Punjab’s youth from drugs. His mission was to help young people escape the trap of addiction, but this did not go down well with drug traffickers. He questioned who would take responsibility for the safety of ordinary citizens if even those fighting against drugs were not safe. Referring to a similar incident involving Gulzar Singh in the past, Dhillon said the steadily deteriorating situation in Punjab was creating fear among the people.
Government Has Completely Failed to Curb Drugs
Kewal Singh Dhillon alleged that drugs were being sold openly in Punjab and that the Aam Aadmi Party government had completely failed to curb the menace. He said people who raised their voices against the drug trade were being forced to pay with their lives. This situation raised serious questions about the state government’s functioning, he added. Dhillon said fear of the law had disappeared among criminals. He described the present government as the most incompetent government in Punjab’s history.

AAP and Congress Exposed for Their Petty Politics Over SIR in Punjab: Rajnesh Dhiman
Punjab’s Final Voter List Highlights the Importance of Transparent Electoral Reforms, While Protests Continue in Delhi
Ludhiana, October 13:The Punjab Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were staging protests before the Election Commission in Chandigarh and campaigning on the issue in Delhi as well. However, neither party raised any objection to the SIR process in Punjab. This reflects the transparency of the Election Commission and exposes the petty politics being played by the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress over the issue of SIR, said Rajnesh Dhiman, State General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Punjab.
In a statement, Rajnesh Dhiman said that Punjab’s voter list had also drawn attention to the stand taken by these political parties at the state level. Representatives of the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and Shiromani Akali Dal expressed satisfaction with the final voter list. Thus, in contrast to the ongoing political confrontation over SIR in the national capital, representatives of these parties stated that they had no objections to the final voter list published by the Election Commission.
Rajnish Dhiman said that Congress leader Hardeep Kingra, AAP leader Ferry Sof and Akali Dal leader Arshdeep Singh Kler thanked the Election Commission during their interactions with the media for completing the process in a transparent manner.
What Do the Figures Reveal?
According to the final voter list published on Monday, Punjab has a total of 2,01,00,727 registered voters across its 117 Assembly constituencies. Before the voter list revision process began in June, the total stood at 2,14,61,043.
The reduction of approximately 13.60 lakh voters has been attributed to deaths, permanent migration, voters who could not be traced, the removal of duplicate entries registered at more than one location, and other changes. At the same time, new voters have also been added to the list.
Notably, the draft voter list published on August 13 had recorded 1,93,94,435 voters, while the final list reflects an increase of 3.64 per cent over the draft list. During this period, a total of 7,97,263 new voters were registered, taking the number of voters in the final list above the figure recorded in the draft list.

Kewal Singh Dhillon Demands CBI Probe into Parminder Singh Jhota’s Murder
Punjab BJP President Writes to Governor of Punjab
Urges Authorities to Ensure Family’s Security and Immediately Preserve All Evidence Related to the Murder
Chandigarh, October 13:Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab State President Kewal Singh Dhillon has demanded that the murder case of Parminder Singh Jhota, an anti-drug activist from Mansa, be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to ensure an impartial investigation. In this regard, he has written a letter to Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, urging him to intervene immediately.
Kewal Singh Dhillon said that Parminder Singh Jhota was not an ordinary citizen but had been fighting against drug trafficking and the illegal sale of narcotics for a long time. He had been raising his voice, without fear for his own life, to protect Punjab’s younger generation from the scourge of drugs. The murder of such an individual raises serious questions about the law and order situation in the state.
He said that two extremely serious aspects had emerged in the case. The statement made by the deceased’s father, in which he named the local MLA, and eyewitness accounts suggesting that the assailant spoke to someone over the phone before opening fire must be taken seriously. An impartial investigation into these aspects is essential to uncover the actual conspiracy behind the murder.
Dhillon said that since the victim’s family had raised questions about a representative of the ruling party, the investigation should be handed over to the CBI to ensure impartiality. He emphasised that justice must not only be delivered but the public must also have confidence that the investigation is being conducted in a completely fair and unbiased manner.
The BJP state president urged the Governor to direct the Punjab government to immediately transfer the murder investigation to the CBI or take appropriate action at his own level in this regard. He also demanded the immediate preservation of the assailant’s phone call records, the Facebook Live video of the incident, and all other digital and physical evidence related to the case.
He further urged the authorities to ensure the safety of the deceased’s family, particularly his young children, and to conduct an in-depth investigation into the entire network and nexus operating behind the illegal sale of drugs in Punjab.
Kewal Singh Dhillon expressed hope that the Governor, as the constitutional head of Punjab, would intervene immediately in this serious matter and take the necessary steps to ensure justice for the victim’s family.

Murder of youth who raised his voice against drugs in Mansa exposes Punjab’s reality: Sunil Jakhar
Asks whether drug inspectors have been reduced to collecting money for “plunderers from Delhi”
Chandigarh, October 13-Former Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar has sharply reacted to the murder of a young man in Mansa for raising his voice against drugs. He said the drug mafia had either gone completely beyond the government’s control or the government had confined itself to collecting money, leaving people at God’s mercy.
Sunil Jakhar said the Mansa incident was not an isolated case, as a similar incident had already occurred in Abohar. He said that when the police repress someone merely for showing the Chief Minister a black flag in protest against drugs, instead of taking action against the drug menace, and when someone who tells a minister the truth about drugs is driven to suicide, who will listen to those raising their voices against drugs?
Sunil Jakhar said this was a clear example of the state’s law-and-order situation and the alarming scale of the drug menace. He said the DGP himself had recently acknowledged that the abuse of pharmaceutical drugs was increasing in the state. Why, then, was the government’s action to curb it nowhere to be seen?
In a message shared on social media, Sunil Jakhar wrote:
“The murder of a young man who raised his voice against drugs in Mansa has once again exposed the reality of the Mann government’s ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign. Recently, the DGP also acknowledged that pharmaceutical drug abuse is increasing in Punjab. People want to know what steps the government has taken to curb it and how much of these drugs has been seized.
“Is it not the responsibility of drug inspectors to curb pharmaceutical drug abuse, or have their duties been confined solely to collecting money for the plunderers who have come from Delhi?
“Bhagwant Mann ji, even if you are Chief Minister only on paper, you remain accountable to Punjab.”

Kejriwal Violated the Sanctity of Gurdwara Sahib; Akal Takht Should Summon Him: R.P. Singh
Amritsar, October 13, 2026:Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal violated the sanctity of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib during a protest organised by his party’s youth wing, the CJP, on October 10. He should be summoned to Sri Akal Takht Sahib over the incident, demanded BJP National Spokesperson R.P. Singh during a press conference.
He urged the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to summon Kejriwal and direct him to apologise for the act. He said that Kejriwal was using a place of worship for political purposes, which was highly condemnable.
Showing two video clips, R.P. Singh said that during the CJP protest in Delhi, false information was circulated claiming that Delhi Police personnel had entered Gurdwara Bangla Sahib wearing shoes. He alleged that this was part of a petty political ploy orchestrated by Arvind Kejriwal. He said the CJP was nothing but the youth wing of the Aam Aadmi Party, and that left-wing student organisations were also present alongside its members.
He said that, in reality, Delhi Police personnel had merely passed through the area because all roads had been closed that day. According to him, Delhi Police arrived there at 11 a.m., while AAP protesters reached the spot at 1 p.m.
He alleged that AAP workers entered the gurdwara on the pretext of partaking in langar, carrying backpacks with them. Once inside, they took out posters and began holding a meeting to pursue their political agenda within the gurdwara premises. They subsequently waved placards and raised slogans there as well. He said that a gurdwara was a place for performing kirtan and that there was no place for political meetings inside it.
The BJP national spokesperson said that if the Aam Aadmi Party had a dispute with the Central Government, it should fight its battle on the streets. He questioned who had given the party permission to hold a meeting inside the gurdwara. He also said that an FIR had been registered against Arvind Kejriwal and his associates in connection with the matter.
R.P. Singh said that the BJP had written to the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and assured him that an investigation would be conducted. Delhi Police would investigate the matter, and anyone found guilty would face action in accordance with the directions of the Jathedar Sahib.
He further alleged that AAP leaders had described gurdwaras as havens for rapists. He said this reflected the extent of their hostility towards the Sikh religion. R.P. Singh also questioned the Aam Aadmi Party, which had raised an uproar over the presence of police at a gurdwara in Delhi, asking what action had been taken against the police personnel who had entered a gurdwara in Sultanpur Lodhi.
“The BJP sincerely respects Sikh religious traditions and the sanctity of Sikh institutions. We have never violated the sanctity of gurdwaras for political purposes, and we never will,” R.P. Singh said.
