CHANDIGARH, 18.09.24-Enactus team of Panjab University successfully conducted a Workshop on “Menstrual Health & Hygiene” Awareness workshop at Nayagaon in collaboration with Developing Indigenous Resources-India (DIR-India), Versatile Enterprise Pvt. Ltd., Ludhiana, Brand Qnix, Corporate Sustainability Council, Women's Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CSC WICCI), Chandigarh and Institute’s Innovation Council (IIC), Panjab University, conveyed Prof. Seema Kapoor, Faculty Advisor, Enactus, President IIC, State Vice president of CSC WICCI, Chandigarh.
The workshop featured two distinguished speakers: Ms. Gurleen Arora, founder of Qnix and Dr. Asha Katoch, CEO of DIR-India. Ms. Arora shared insights into Qnix’s mission to provide reusable and eco-friendly menstrual products. Her expertise and passion for women’s health inspired and educated attendees, helping to break the stigma surrounding menstrual health. Dr. Katoch, a veteran healthcare professional, highlighted the critical role of grassroots initiatives in enhancing menstrual health awareness and its impact on overall health and well-being, especially in underserved communities. Dr. Katoch lauded the Enactus team for their remarkable initiatives, emphasizing that the future of our country looks promising with such passionate young minds committed to societal causes.
The event was also supported by the Disha Veera Centre Chandigarh (Women's Wing) of Mahavir International Apex, an NGO, driven by the principle of "LOVE ALL SERVE ALL." Ms. Usha Jain, Chairperson, generously donated sanitary napkins for 100 women, a vital contribution that significantly enhanced the workshop’s success, conveyed Muskan Sihag, President of Enactus team. The event also featured Ms. Shubhneet Kaur, an intern at Qnix, who discussed the importance of a balanced dietary plan for young girls to maintain good reproductive health.
With an attendance of approximately 100 participants, the workshop effectively furthered the goals of Project Uday, which focuses on promoting eco-friendly menstrual hygiene products and raising awareness about sustainable practices, said Pakhi Negi, Vice President of Enactus team. Aayush Bhatt, Project Head of team stated that it was heartening to witness participants engaging in open conversations about menstrual health, a topic that is often shrouded in stigma.
Madhu Kumari, Event Head of team conveyed that Ms. Arora and Dr. Katoch’s community-based approach provided attendees with practical knowledge and resources, making a lasting impact on their understanding of menstrual health.
