CM approves construction of four-lane road from Agra Canal Sector 8 to Gharora village in Tigaon
Project to cost around Rs 81 crore, will help ease traffic congestion in Faridabad
Chandigarh, January 14 - A four-lane road will be constructed within the available Right of Way (ROW) of MITC main channel from Agra Canal, Sector 8 to village Gharora in the Tigaon Assembly constituency of Faridabad. Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini has given his approval to the project today.
Giving information, a government spokesperson said the construction of this road was demanded by Minister of State in Government of India, Sh. Krishan Pal Gurjar, Haryana Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sh. Rajesh Nagar and former Minister and MLA Sh. Mool Chand Sharma and villagers of surrounding areas and about Rs 81 crore will be spent on this road project.
He informed that in this regard, the Superintending Engineer, Gurugram Circle, PWD B&R Branch, Gurugram had submitted that Haryana State Minor Irrigation and Tubewells Corporation Ltd (HSMITC) had acquired about 30 hectares of land in Faridabad and constructed a main channel called MITC Channel No.1 and feeder channels called MITC Channel No. 1 & 2 in Faridabad district. Due to heavy losses, the activities of HSMITC were closed on June 30, 2002 under Section 25-0 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947. Since then, these channels have been abandoned and some of the channel lands are being encroached upon by the local people and about 30 hectares of land of MITC Channel No.1 is encroached upon along a 23.46 m wide strip in 13.490 km length.
He said the construction of bridge over Yamuna at Manjhawali has been completed and after its construction, there will be a huge increase in traffic intensity on Faridabad-Manjhawali Road, as this road passes through many villages. To address this problem, MITC land can be used for development of new road to connect Faridabad with Manjhawali and Noida via village Gharora and it will also serve as bypass for various villages i.e. Mirzapur, Neemka, Tigaon, Bhainsrawali, Raipur Kalan and Gharora etc. These villages will also be connected to the proposed corridor through existing network of roads. Keeping these circumstances in view, a new road is proposed on vacant HSMITC Channel No. 1 in Tigaon constituency of Faridabad.
He said the proposed road passes through Dedicated Freight Corridor and at present, 2 VUPs of 2 meter and 3 meter width have been provided in the Dedicated Freight Corridor. For the construction of a 4-lane road, a minimum of 2 VUPs of 9 m width each will be required here. Also, before proceeding further in the matter, 30 hectares of land belonging to the Irrigation and Water Resources Department will be required to be transferred to PWD (B&R) as per the existing policy of 2021 for land transfer between government departments.
