Chandigarh, November 4:- City Mayor Sh. Kuldeep Kumar today called a meeting of all HODs of different wings of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh to discuss scope of revenue generation to avoid financial crises in the MCC.
The Meeting was chaired by the Mayor and attended by Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, MC Commissioner and other senior officers of MCC. During the meeting various issues and measures were discussed to generate revenue in the MCC.
The Mayor directed the concerned HODs of all the wings to explore sources of income for the department and process be started to recover the arrears and dues at the earliest.
The Mayor asked the officers to recover the water arrears and defaulters be penalized as per the rules. He said that faulty meters be fiend out and leakages be repaired immediately. On the issue of property tax, the Mayor asked the concerned officers to identify the defaulters comparing water and electricity connections, whether they are paying their due property tax or not. He said that recovery notices be served immediately to the defaulters and strict action be taken as per the rules.
The Mayor said that scope of revenue be chalked out including curtailing solid waste management in the city and ideas be gathered from different Municipalities throughout the country, where self sustainable steps are being taken. He said that list of vacant properties be prepared so that the same may be rented out and recovery process be initiated against the defaulters.
The Mayor said that any kind of recovery from mobile tower fee defaulters be made at the earliest and revenue model be chalked out to generate income from display advertisements. He said that handsome revenue may be generated from gyms in community centres throughout city.
