World Stroke Day celebration at NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH, 05.11.24-CNE on “World Stroke Day" which focusing on raising awareness and enhancing understanding of stroke prevention, recognition and management was organized at NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh.

Keeping in mind this year's theme on World Stroke Day i.e. "Greater than stroke active challenge" the National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER, Chandigarh in collaboration with NSS conducted a CNE to create awareness of stroke and it’s active management. Dr. Dheeraj Khurana, Professor, Department of Neurology, PGIMER graced the event as the Chief Guest and he emphasized the power of sports in conquering stroke.

Around 200 students and faculty from NINE participated in the program. The experts discussed the topic highlighting stroke prevention strategies, acute stroke management, post-stroke rehabilitation and updated the students on best practices for timely intervention and comprehensive care.

Dr Sukhpal Kaur, Principal, NINE emphasized the importance of nurses having core knowledge regarding stroke. She highlights the role of nurses throughout the journey from prevention till rehabilitation of an Individual with stroke. Lamp Lighting Ceremony, NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH, 05.11.24-National Institute of Nursing Education, SNA Unit, PGIMER, Chandigarh organized lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony for the 53rd batch of B.Sc. Nursing 1st year (4 years) course students on 5th November, 2024. This ceremony is held everywhere before the induction of students to clinical areas.

Prof. (Dr.) Vipin Kaushal, Medical Superintendent, PGIMER, Chandigarh was the chief guest of the day and Mrs. Jaspal Kaur (Chief Nursing Officer) was Guest of Honor. Deputy Nursing Superintendents of PGI also graced the occasion. Dr. Sukhpal Kaur, Principal, NINE welcomed the guests. She emphasized the importance of lamp lighting ceremony in nursing profession and contribution of Florence Nightingale, the “Pioneer of Nursing Profession” in the field of nursing.

Prof. (Dr.) Vipin Kaushal focused the attention of the audience to highlight the crucial role of nurses in patient care and asked the students to be honest, punctual, sincere and empathetic while working with the patients. He motivated them to work whole heartedly and enthusiastically with the patients. Sir also highlighted the role of Ms. Florence Nightingale in upbringing the profession and motivated the novice students to follow the footsteps of the Pioneer.

The event concluded with lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony by the students which was conducted by Dr. Sunita Sharma, Associate Professor, NINE, PGIMER. The student SNA executives actively participated in organizing the program.
