CHANDIGARH,12.11.24-The Department of Public Administration and Police Administration at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised a two-day lecture on ICT and Governance. Mr. Abhishek Latwa, a Civil Engineer and Entrepreneur, was the resource person for the lecture. On the first day, Mr. Latwa explained in detail the terminology of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and its crucial relationship with governance. He explained how ICT serves as a backbone for modern governance by enabling more efficient management of public services and enhancing decision-making processes. The second day featured a focused discussion on e-governance, wherein Mr. Latha explored how digital tools and platforms can transform government operations by improving transparency, efficiency and accessibility. In his closing remarks, the speaker emphasised that defining context, text, and subjects is essential for effective communication, providing a comprehensive approach to tackling governance challenges. A total 121 students from different streams participated in the event.

Officiating Principal Ms. Suman Mahajan lauded this effort to educate students about the imperative role of ICT in governance. She highlighted the fact that ICT plays a crucial role in modern governance, influencing various aspects of public administration and policy-making, and added that when properly harnessed, ICT can lead to more transparent, efficient, and responsive governance.
