*New school, with 131 classrooms, is equipped with smart classrooms, a library, 7 state-of-the-art labs, 2 large MP halls, an activity room, and elevators
NEW DELHI ;14.11.24-Continuing its commitment to providing excellent education for every child in Delhi, the AAP government has established a new world-class school in Sundar Nagri. On Thursday, on the occasion of Children’s Day, CM Atishi inaugurated and dedicated this school to the children.
On this occasion, CM Atishi said, "Sundar Nagri and Nand Nagri are among the most densely populated areas in Delhi. To see such a magnificent world-class school here, in such a crowded area where even walking space is limited, is unbelievable."
She further expressed, "I am immensely happy to inaugurate this school. When our government was first elected in 2015, and we inspected schools in this area, every classroom was filled with 100-150 students, with children sitting on floors and mats. Even the best teacher would struggle to provide quality education in such conditions."
CM Atishi stated, "Thanks to the Delhi government, this magnificent school has been inaugurated in Sundar Nagri F-1 and F-2 blocks. I can confidently say that even the best private schools in this area lack such a grand building and facilities."
She shared that this Sarvodaya school will operate in two shifts. It has 131 classrooms, 7 laboratories, a library, 2 large MP halls, and a conference room. These facilities will enable the school to offer all three streams – Arts, Commerce, and Science.
This grand school building will cater to over 7,000 children, greatly benefiting those in Sundar Nagri and Nand Nagri. Parents will no longer need to send their children far away for quality education, and students from overcrowded schools nearby will be shifted here in the coming weeks.
The land for the school was reclaimed from land mafias thanks to the efforts of the Delhi government. In January 2023, former Education Minister Manish Sisodia laid the foundation stone, and today, a magnificent 5-story school stands here. This new school will reduce the student burden on schools in Mandoli, Saboli, Sundar Nagri, Bank Colony, Harsh Vihar, and Nand Nagri areas. It features 131 classrooms, smart classrooms, libraries, advanced laboratories, an activity room, and other modern amenities.
CM Atishi remarked, "This land was originally allocated by the DDA to the Education Department for building a school in 2003. However, previous parties and leaders showed no interest in the education of ordinary children, and it eventually fell under the control of land mafias. But when the AAP government, led by Arvind Kejriwal Ji, came to power, we fought and reclaimed this land, finally commencing the school’s construction."
CM Atishi added, "While previous leaders focused on their families, securing land and amassing wealth for their next generations, Arvind Kejriwal Ji is focused on the future of the common people of Delhi and their children. That’s why he took back this land from the mafias and dedicated it to building a magnificent school for children."
She highlighted that, "Delhi government schools weren’t always like this. Before 2015, they were in poor condition, with leaky roofs and a lack of basic facilities. However, since Kejriwal Ji took office, there has been a transformation. From 2015 to 2024 alone, 22,700 classrooms have been added, almost as many as were built from 1947 to 2015. Today, the facilities available in government schools even surpass those in private schools."
She continued, "Not only have classrooms and facilities improved, but we have also invested in teacher training. The training budget increased tenfold, and our teachers have been sent to leading institutions in the U.S., UK, Finland, and Singapore. World-class training for our educators enables them to deliver world-class education to our students."
CM Atishi concluded, "The result is that, for the past eight years, Delhi government schools have been outperforming private schools in exams. Today, students from these schools are qualifying for competitive exams like JEE and NEET and getting into top engineering and medical colleges. Just last year, 2,800 students from Delhi government schools cleared JEE and NEET exams."
CM Atishi pointed out, "While nationwide, parents are withdrawing children from government schools in favour of private ones, Delhi stands as an exception. In the past three years, over 400,000 students have left private schools to enrol in government schools – a true education revolution in Delhi."
She concluded, "If the people of Delhi want good schools and a bright future for their children, they must once again choose a government that prioritises education. Only a government led by Arvind Kejriwal Ji will continue working to improve schools, unlike others who would neglect education as they do in other states."

*Delhi’s AAP Govt doubles down on pollution control; Environment Minister Gopal Rai convenes meeting with experts, instructs strict adherence to GRAP-II guidelines
*30% of Delhi’s pollution is due to sources within Delhi, while 70% is due to sources in NCR states: Gopal Rai
*Joint action plan with Central Govt and NCR states is needed to control pollution in Delhi: Gopal Rai
*Incidents of stubble burning have decreased in Punjab: Gopal Rai
NEW DELHI:14.11.24-The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is fully committed to addressing the escalating air pollution in Delhi. In this context, Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai highlighted that, for the first time this winter season, the pollution level in Delhi has surpassed 400.
Environment Minister Gopal Rai said, “Since October 14, the pollution level (AQI) in Delhi has been in the poor and very poor categories. However, in just two days, it has escalated from the very poor to the severe category.”
The Delhi Environment Minister further stated that in light of this, a meeting was held with environmental scientists in the Green War Room today. Following the meeting, Gopal Rai instructed all concerned departments to strictly adhere to the guidelines outlined in GRAP-II.
He further explained that, according to the report presented by the scientists over the last two days, there are two main reasons for the recent increase in pollution levels. He added, “First, the snowfall in the mountains has caused a drop in Delhi’s temperature, leading to fog in the mornings and evenings across North India. Secondly, the wind speed has decreased. These two factors have caused the pollution level to rise rapidly.”
Minister Gopal Rai stated that the wind speed is expected to improve, which should lead to a decrease in pollution levels. He added, “Yesterday, the CAQM held a meeting and decided that GRAP-III will not be implemented in Delhi at this time.”
“Currently, GRAP-II is applicable in Delhi, and the restrictions under it will be strictly enforced. Today, all relevant departments have been redirected in this regard. Any decisions or instructions issued related to GRAP-II—whether concerning anti-dust measures, industrial pollution, or vehicle emissions—must be strictly followed,” he continued.
The Environment Minister stated that the government is closely monitoring the situation. He said, “Our effort is to successfully curb pollution in Delhi by strictly implementing the restrictions of GRAP-II, so that there is no need to implement GRAP-III in the city.”
He further added, “If, in the coming days, adverse weather conditions cause pollution to increase and Delhi’s pollution levels reach the severe category, our government is prepared to take strict measures to protect the health and breathing of the people of Delhi.”
Minister Gopal Rai stated, “I want to present two or three key facts to the people of Delhi and the country. CSE has released an analysis of data from IIIT, covering the period from October 12 to November 3.”
He added, “According to this analysis, the report shows that Delhi’s contribution to the pollution is 30.34 percent, NCR districts contribute 34.97 percent, and districts adjacent to NCR contribute 27.94 percent.”
Minister Gopal Rai further said, “The Delhi government is making every effort to control pollution through the Summer Action Plan and Winter Action Plan. However, to effectively address pollution in Delhi, the central government must collaborate with NCR states and neighboring states to create a joint action plan. This plan must be strictly enforced, with everyone working together to control their respective share of pollution.”
Minister Gopal Rai explained that in 2022, there were 45,172 incidents of stubble burning in Punjab between October 14 and November 13. He added, “When the Punjab government began addressing this issue, the number of stubble burning incidents decreased to 26,127 during the same period in 2023. In 2024, from October 14 to November 13, only 7,492 incidents of stubble burning occurred.”
He continued, saying, “If we look at this reduction in percentage, it is 80 percent. In other words, due to the efforts of our government, the incidents of stubble burning have decreased by 80 percent over the last three years. This data comes from the Central Government. If we analyze this data further, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, which borders Delhi, there were 1,271 incidents of stubble burning in 2022, which increased to 2,167 in 2024.”
Minister Gopal Rai stated that the people of Delhi are not solely responsible for the pollution that the city faces every year. The states of NCR and those adjacent to it are equally accountable. He concluded by saying, “Therefore, if we want to reduce the pollution levels in Delhi, all four governments—Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and the Central Government—m
ust work together. Only then can we effectively control the pollution.”
