MAHENDERGARH, 21.11.24-“National Library Week” stared at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Central Library, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh. The event aims to create awareness among the students about the importance of reading, books and libraries. The Library is celebrating the week-long event by organising bookmark competition, book cover design competition, debate competition, rangoli competition, essay competition, poster making competition, etc.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice Chancellor of the University said that Organising National Library Week helps students understand the value of books and libraries. So various activities and competitions will attract them towards effectively using library resources.
On the first day of the event, the Library organised Bookmark Design Competition. More than 60 students from various Departments of the University participated. The University Librarian Dr. Santosh C H motivated the students and shared his viewpoint regarding the importance of books and libraries. The Deputy Librarian, Dr. Rajeev Vashistha shared the rules of the competition to all the participants.
The coordinator of the event, Information Scientist, Dr. Vinita Malik spoke about the creativity involved in designing bookmarks. Mr. Naresh Kumar, Assistant Librarian spoke about effectively using Library’s mobile application. Prof. Harish Kumar, Department of Chemistry and Dr. Amit Kumar, Department of Hindi appreciated the participation of the students and distributed certificates to the winners. Dr. Vinita Malik proposed vote of thanks.
