CHANDIGARH, 28.11.24The prestigious Dr Rajendra Rao CME of the Indian College of Radiology and Imaging (ICRI) for the year 2024 concluded at the PGIMER, Chandigarh. With the theme of ‘Cardiovascular and Interventions’, the conference dwelled on the role and importance of CT and MRI in the imaging of heart and blood vessels. Extensive discussions on how image-guided minimally invasive interventions have transformed the management of various pathologies of the brain, spine, chest and abdomen were also held. The conference was organised by the Chandigarh Chapter of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA) and saw extensive participation from across North India.
Dr Sanjay Jain, Dean Research, PGI, who was the Chief Guest, lauded the efforts of the Radiology Department in carrying out treatments by Interventional Radiology (IR), without the need of large incisions in the body. Dr Paramjeet Singh, head of department of Radiology and also the conference Patron, welcomed the participants. Dr Naveen Kalra, the organizing chairperson lauded the efforts of the IRIA in promoting radiology teaching activities across India by arranging such activities. He thanked the faculty who had come from far and wide including from Punjab, Rishikesh, Hyderabad and New Delhi and took painstaking efforts at teaching and deliberations.
In addition to didactic lectures, there were hands-on-workshops for the students to learn the various techniques of IR by experts in the field. Dr Sameer Vyas, the organising secretary of the event proposed a heartfelt thanks to everyone in the organizing team for their dedication at ensuring the smooth conduct of the conference. Dr Harish Bhujade was the treasurer of the conference. The conference was well attended by the more than 220 delegates from Chandigarh and the neighboring states.
