Nangal (Rupnagar), December 11:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann oWednesday paid obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Bhabhor Sahib to offer prayers and seek blessings of almighty to give enormous strength to serve the people of state with all humility and dedication.
The Chief Minister said that he was fortunate to have got an opportunity to serve the state and this visit was aimed at expressing his gratitude to almighty for bestowing this service. Bhagwant Singh Mann reiterated his firm commitment to ensure overall development, peace and communal harmony besides cherishing the aspirations of all sections of the society. He also prayed for the progress and development of the state and prosperity of its people.
The Chief Minister sought blessings of almighty to give enormous strength to him for serving the people of state with full dedication. He offered prayers at Gurdwara sahib and reiterated the firm commitment of his government to serve the people of the state regardless of caste, colour, creed and religion to create a harmonious society. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that as taught by the great Gurus the ethos of love, brotherhood and harmony in the society will be maintained at every cost and will ever remain their top priority of the state government.
The Chief Minister thanked the Almighty for bestowing upon him the responsibility to serve the people of Punjab with sincerity, dedication and commitment to fulfill their aspirations. He said that it is always a unique experience for him to visit such holy shrines, which are fountainheads of inspiration and positivity for millions of people from around the world. Bhagwant Singh Mann said by the God’s grace his government is leaving no stone unturned to come up to the expectations of people and top priority is being accorded by the government to implement pro-people and development oriented policies.

Punjab Government Issues Guidelines for Online Registration for Playway Schools: Dr. Baljit Kaur
Says, Punjab Government Commitment to Holistic Development of Children
Chandigarh, December 11:The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is not only working for the welfare of various communities but is also committed to the holistic development of children. In this regard, the Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Dr. Baljit Kaur, has issued new guidelines for online registration for playway schools.
Sharing this information, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur explained that it is mandatory for these schools to have a play area, and it is also necessary for schools to have cameras installed.
Dr. Baljit Kaur appealed to parents to verify whether the school is registered before enrolling their children. Information regarding this will be uploaded on the official website of the Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development. She emphasized that the health of children aged 3 to 6 years in Punjab will not be compromised. Playway schools operating in a single room will be completely shut down.
The Cabinet Minister further stated that schools will ensure timely health checkups and maintain records of immunizations for children. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann, the policy will now be effectively implemented at the ground level, with the launch of a robust online registration system for schools.
The Minister explained that playway schools will use games as a tool for early childhood development, which will enhance both the physical and mental growth of children. She also mentioned that to monitor children’s health, parent-teacher WhatsApp groups will be established.

Vigilance Bureau arrests Patwari accepting Rs 20,000 bribe
Chandigarh December 11, 2024 -The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Wednesday has apprehended Patwari Surjit Singh, posted at Qila Lal Singh in Gurdaspur district for accepting a bribe of Rs 20000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested on a complaint lodged by Varinder Singh, a resident of village Qila Lal Singh in Gurdaspur. He further added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that his land was acquired by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for construction of expressway and the accused Patwari has demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 for making a report in his favor to include three borewells on the land.
The spokesperson informed that after a preliminary enquiry into this complaint the VB team laid a trap during which the accused was caught red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He added that in this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at VB police station, Amritsar range. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigations into this case was under progress.

SEC deputes 22 IAS officers as Election Observers in different Districts of the state
Chandigarh, 11 December 2024:In order to ensure that necessary arrangements for the conduct of free, fair and peaceful election have been made as per provisions of Law and to oversee the electoral process with strict vigilance, the State Election Commission, Punjab has deputed 22 IAS Officers as Election Observers in different Districts of the State. Out of these, five officers will oversee elections in 5 Municipal Corporations (with one officer in each Municipal Corporation).
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the Punjab State Election Commission said that remaining Observers will supervise Municipal Council/ Nagar Panchayat Elections in different Districts of the State. These Observers have been directed to reach their allotted Districts latest by 11 AM on 12 December 2024 (i.e. last day of nominations) to review all arrangements and necessary activities pertaining to the elections.
He further informed that these Observers shall review law and order arrangements made by the District Administration with regard to elections, elections related complaints, quantity of elections material, commissioning of EVMs, training of polling staff, enforcement of Model Code of Conduct, Videography/CCTV arrangements etc. They would be available in their allotted Districts, till the counting process is over.
