PATIALA-13.12.24-The Patiala Music Festival, an impassioned endeavor of the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), to carry forward the rich musical legacy of Patiala, which
is all set start on December 18, will conclude on December 22 (earlier slated to conclude on December 21) with the scintillating sitar recital by Anupama Bhagwat from Bangalore, an accomplished sitar virtuoso.

Host NZCC is going hammers and tongs working on modalities to make this edition memorable like never before. It has announced dates for the second edition of the fest, which is barely one year old - it stared last year in Patiala amid the august presence of the who’s who of all spectrums, especially the music-loving citizenry.

Like the previous year, this year too, the festival will be held at the historic Kalidas Auditorium, Patiala.The four-day musical extravaganza will begin on December 18 with a soulful rendition by Shantanu Bhattacharya of Patiala Gharana, a classical singer of renown.The fest will conclude on December 22 with a delightful sitar recital by Anupama Bhagwat from Bangalore, a well known sitar wizard, at 10.30 am, onwards.

The prominent star performers, who are lined-up to show up and showcase their craft include, among others Gunjan Channa from Shimla (HP), Alankar Singh from Patiala, Ronkini Gupta from Mumbai, Uday Prakash Malik from Delhi and Saurabh Vashisht from Jaipur.They will together bring live the variegated colours of India to the fore.

Music-lovers are all set to get swayed by the spellbinding jugalbandi of the terrific trio of instrumental music - Yogesh Shamsi on tabla and Tanmay Dawachke on harmonium and Rajendra Prasanna on flute, who will take you on a snappy trip to the world of music of the divine.

It is worth mentioning that this music fest was started last year to perpetuate the traditional classical singing of Patiala Gharana, which had evoked an overwhelming response from the music-lovers of the royal City of Patiala, the cradle of classical genre of singing.

NZCC Director Mohd Furqan Khan, the brain behind this groundbreaking initiative,said that the age-old Patiala Gharana occupied a place of pride in the hearts of teeming millions of Hindustani classical music fans, both vocal and instrumental, must continue to suffuse our soul with the nectar of love. He said NZCC has taken the onus of carrying forward the rich music legacy further by making it an annual feature on the persistent demand of those having ears for divine music.

The daily timings of will be 6 pm onwards.However, on the concluding day (December 22), the timings will be 10.30 am, onwards.
