Chandigarh, 20.02.25-The campus of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, reverberated with energy, cheer and festivity as its annual cultural fest Meraki took off with a bang here today. A two-day affair, the most happening fest of the tricity embarked on its 8th edition this year with participants from institutions from across the tricity. Ms Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP, Chandigarh, graced the event as the Chief Guest and Mr Naveen Rattu, DAN-ICS, SDM Central was the Guest of Honour. Lamp lighting lent an auspicious beginning to the mega event that had an unprecedented number of visitors making a beeline to witness this infusion of soul and creativity into the fest. An impressive presentation of the college was followed by Arya Samaj commemoration wherein the Music Department of the college paid lyrical tribute to the legacy of Swami Dayanand Saraswati. Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal lauded the impeccable organisation of the event, and conveyed her best wishes for its grand success. Mr. Naveen Rattu asserted that such events are a befitting opportunity for the students to learn life skills, and congratulated the organising team for a splendid event.
Singer and actor Jai Randhawa’s presence and eclectic performance during the first half of the day added to the verve of the event, sending a wave of excitement among the audience. A host of exciting events lined up for day one comprised of Dance Competition, Face Painting Competition, and Hog It All (Eating Competition), displaying manifestation of various arts and a fine amalgamation of talent, creativity, intellect and entertainment. The fest reached its crescendo with an electrifying Star Night that had everyone dancing to the rhythmic beats as singer Nikhil D’Souza performed live.
Officiating Principal Ms. Suman Mahajan conveyed her best wishes to the Meraki Organizing Committee for an exceptional show, and acknowledged the spirit of resilience and determination demonstrated by them, thus embodying the principles of Swami Dayanand Saraswati. She also expressed appreciation for the heart and soul put in by the students in organising the fest.
