Mahendergarh, 24.12.24-The Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh proudly inaugurated its state-of-the-art Medical Microbiology Laboratory, a significant step toward advancing research on medically important microbes. The ceremony was graced by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Tankeshwar, who inaugurated the facility in the Department of Microbiology.
This specialized laboratory is designed to facilitate work on microbes of clinical relevance. The facility houses basic and advanced instruments, including a BSL-2 biological safety cabinet for handling pathogens and incubators to support the growth of anaerobic microbes. The facility also adheres to the guidelines of Institutional Biosafety committee under Department of Biotechnology with all protocols and safety measures such as training of personal working with pathogens, safe disposal of the waste and other.
Prof. Vikas Beniwal, Head, Department of Microbiology emphasized that the laboratory will foster interdisciplinary research within the university and enable collaboration with researchers from other disciplines. Dr. Puja Yadav, who is working on antimicrobial resistance in Gram negative pathogens added that the laboratory is specifically designed to enable advanced research on clinically significant microbes, fostering impactful scientific contributions.
The event was attended by distinguished faculty members, including Prof. Dinesh Gupta (Dean, SIAS), Prof. Gunjan Goel, Prof. Surender Singh, Prof. Pawan Maurya, Prof. Antresh, Prof. Rupesh Deshmukh, Prof. Umesh, Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Dr. Avijit, Dr. Jitendra, and Dr. Vinod Yadav. Research scholars and students from the school of interdisciplinary and applied scienecs also attended the event, marking the beginning of a new era of research and innovation in medical microbiology at the University. This milestone aligns with the university’s vision of advancing scientific excellence and fostering collaborative research to address pressing health challenges in the community.
