Invites to AIESCB Kabaddi Championship

SHIMLA, 17.04.25-A delegation of 46th All India Electricity Sports Control Board's (AIESCB) Kabaddi (Men & Women) Championship 2024-25 called on Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu here today. The delegation was led by its General Secretary Er. Rakesh Thakur.

The delegation invited the Chief Minister to grace the event being organized by Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Ltd. at Senior Secondary School, Bhattakufer, Shimla.

The championship will be held from 27th to 29th April, 2025, in which teams from various states will be participating.

A delegation of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile, led by its Prime Minister Penpa Tsering, called on Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at the HP Secretariat here today.

SHIMLA, 17.04.25-The delegation apprised the Chief Minister that global celebrations to mark the 90th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama will commence in July this year and will continue for one year. They extended an invitation to the Chief Minister to participate in this auspicious occasion.

The delegation also discussed various issues concerning the Tibetan community with the Chief Minister.

Former Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, Subhash Kumar and other senior officials of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile were also present on the occasion.

Baga-Sarahan area to be developed from tourism point view: CM

SHIMLA, 17.04.25-A deputation of Ani and Banjar areas of Kullu district led by Chairman MILKFED Budhi Singh Thakur called on Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu here today and apprised the Chief Minister about their various demands.

The Chief Minister assured them that their demands would be considered sympathetically. He also said that the Baga-Sarahan area of the district would be developed from a tourism point of view. This initiative of the government would go a long way in providing direct and indirect employment opportunities to the local youth.

Chairman APMC Kullu Ram Singh and Gram Panchayat Pradhans of Nirmand and Ani areas were also part of the deputation.

SHIMLA, 17.04.25-A delegation of SMC Adhyapak Sangh led by Education Minister Rohit Thakur called on Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu here today.

President of the SMC Adhyapak Sangh Sunil Sharma apprised various demands of the Sangh to the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister assured the delegation that the State Government would consider their demands sympathetically.

Secretary PWD directs officials to expedite four-lane highway work

SHIMLA, 17.04.25Secretary Public Works (Finance, Planning, Economics & Statistics, and Twenty Point Programme) Dr. Abhishek Jain has directed the concerned officials to speed up the construction of the four-lane project on National Highway-105 from Pinjore to Nalagarh. He was chairing a review meeting with officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and district administration during his visit to Nalagarh Sub-Division, today.

The Secretary said that the construction of this 31.195 km long stretch was being carried out at an estimated cost of Rs. 469 crore. The project includes 96 culverts, 15 minor bridges and four major bridges. Construction of flyovers and other key structures was currently underway in various phases.

He directed NHAI officials to ensure high-quality construction and complete all pothole patchwork on the highway by 30th April, 2025. He asked the officials to give special attention on installing proper signage in accident-prone areas, near populated zones and other designated locations as per safety norms to help prevent road accidents.

Dr. Jain instructed regular inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the project. He said that it was importance of maintaining the existing road alongside the new construction so as to avoid inconvenience to commuters. He directed officials to identify water-logged spots on the under-construction stretch and submit a detailed report within a week to find permanent drainage solutions. He urged NHAI to resolve all pending land disputes at the earliest to avoid delays in the construction process.

He also discussed the reasons for the slow progress of the project with officials from NHAI and M/s Patel Infrastructure Ltd., the company executing the work and issued necessary instructions to improve the pace of construction.

Earlier, Dr. Jain inspected the highway construction site. He expressed concern that delays in the project were hampering the supply of raw materials and dispatch of finished products from the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) industrial area, which was adversely affecting the economy of the state.

SDM Nalagarh Raj Kumar, Director of HPRIDCL Pawan Sharma, Chief Engineer PWD Shimla Ajay Kapoor, NHAI Project Director Anand Kumar, Deputy Manager Sumit Bansal, Site Engineer Dinesh Poonia, Project Manager of Patel Infrastructure Ltd. Satendra Kumar and other senior concerned officials were present on the occasion.

Senior secondary sections within areas of urban local bodies to be made co-educational : CM

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the senior secondary sections running in the government schools of the State within area of urban local bodies would be made co-educational.

The Chief Minister was presiding over the meeting of the education department, held here today. He said the state government would rationalise the schools where enrolment was low and there was another similar level school within manageable distance.

Education Minister Rohit Thakur, Secretary, Education Rakesh Kanwar and senior officers of the education department attended the meeting.
