Chandigarh, March 22: Under the leadership of Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Union Territory Chandigarh, the Foundation Day of Bihar was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Punjab Raj Bhawan in the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.

The Governor extended his greetings and said that Statehood Foundation Day celebrations offer a special opportunity to get acquainted with the traditions and cultures of different states while celebrating the diversity of our country in different Raj Bhavans of the country.

He said that the culture of Bihar is extremely rich and its civilization is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. He said that on the holy land of Bihar, Mata Sita was born, Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment and it is the birthplace of Jainism as well as the birthplace of the tenth Guru of Sikhs, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

On this occasion, a video message of the Governor of Bihar was played and a documentary film was also shown.

A mesmerizing presentation of folk music, dances and poetry of Bihar was presented to mark the occasion, which enthralled the guests present.

The dignitaries present on the occasion included Mr. Satya Pal Jain, Additional Solicitor General of India, Mr. Rajeev Verma, Adviser to Administrator, UT along with his better half, Mr. Surendra Singh Yadav, DGP, UT, IAS officers from Punjab and UT, Chandigarh and Mrs Navjot Kaur, Principal Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh along with the staff and students who supported the cultural programme on the day.
