Haryana CS pays obeisance at Mata Mansa Devi Temple

Chandigarh, April 9 - Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. T.V.S.N. Prasad, along with his wife Dr. Shridevi, paid obeisance at Mata Mansa Devi Temple in Panchkula on the first day of Chaitra Navratri today.

Amid the chanting of mantras, he also performed a yajna in Yagya Shala within the temple premises. Sh. Prasad also unveiled the calendar of the Shri Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Board on this auspicious occasion.

Turning 18’ and ‘You Are the One’ campaign motivating youth to participate in festival of democracy

Chandigarh, April 9- The Election Commission of India (ECI) has embarked on an innovative journey to engage citizens through unique campaigns like ‘Turning 18’ and ‘You are the One’ on social media platforms, employing a tailored messaging strategy within the overarching theme of ‘Chunav Ka Parv, Desh Ka Garv’ and to encourage them to get their vote registered.

For voter awareness, the Election Commission is not only active in the field this time but also on social media platforms entirely. Yamunanagar District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Capt. Manoj Kumar said that the Election Commission is focused on attracting new voters this time. For youth aged 18 to 30, the Commission has given a new campaign for voting, 'You Are the One'. These youth can upload photos on social media with their inked finger and 'You Are the One' written alongside. He said that efforts are being made by the administration to ensure that young people included in the voter list for the first time go to the polling booth and cast their vote.

He said that ‘Turning 18’ means that the youth now vote with responsibility in their new role and choose their favourite representative. By emphasizing the significance of voting immediately upon turning 18, the campaign seeks to inspire a sense of civic responsibility among young voters. Furthermore, infographics, highlighting the growing participation of the women electorate, especially in the age bracket of 18-30 showcases the inclusivity of India's democratic process.

The Deputy Commissioner said that for the Lok Sabha elections, a large number of youth in the district have got their voter ID cards made and got their names written in the voter list. The administration's effort is that all the youth whose new votes have been made should go to the polling booth on May 25, so that they can realize their new responsibility. Voting for the first time is a new experience for every young person and they should definitely avail it. On the occasion of the festival of elections, the Election Commission has prepared the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections on the theme of pride of the country. The Election Commission has made a new start on social media to keep voters alert against misleading news.

Chandigarh, April 9 - In order to raise awareness among students about voting, Gurugram University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dinesh Kumar inaugurated the Selfie Point in the University premises today.

On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor urged the students present at the program to participate fully in the voting process. He said that students should take selfies near the Selfie Point and post them on social media so that more and more people become aware of voting. The number of voters should increase, said Prof. Dinesh Kumar.

He said that voting is the right of every Indian citizen. Voting provides an opportunity for direct participation in democracy. The stronger the participation of people in exercising their voting rights, the stronger the democracy will be, said Prof. Dinesh Kumar.

He said that Youth is the backbone of the country. Their participation in this festival of democracy is essential. Prof. Dinesh Kumar expressed hope that young voters will be attracted to this campaign. He appealed to the students to come to the Selfie Point, take selfies, and make this campaign successful.

For publishing campaign material during Lok Sabha elections-2024, publisher's name and the person getting the publication done is mandatory

Chandigarh, April 9 - In order to publish campaign materials during the Lok Sabha elections-2024, it is mandatory to print the name of the publisher, the individual responsible for the publication, and the number of copies on the poster or pamphlet.

The Election Department will thoroughly monitor the details of election expenditures. Therefore, by completing Annexure Forms 1 and B, the printing press operator will clarify which press produced the promotional material and who getting the material printed. Additionally, press operators must provide details on the quantity of copies printed.

Before publishing election campaign materials, press operators should ensure that there are no objectionable words in the language or content of the campaign material. The publicity material's language should not be derogatory toward any individual or party. Any such complaints found will lead to potential actions against both the individual commissioning the publication and the publisher under Section 127A of the Representation of the People Act 1951.

The press operators must retain comprehensive details of printing handbills, pamphlets, posters, banners, etc., which can be requested by the Election department at any time. The full responsibility for printing election campaign material lies with both the publisher and the individual commissioning it. It is essential to adhere to the Model Code of Conduct throughout this process.
