Haryana Governor paid his humble tribute to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his jayanti today at Raj Bhavan

Chandigarh, April 11, 2024: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya on Thursday paid his humble tribute to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his jayanti today at Raj Bhavan here.

A prominent social reformer, thinker, and activist, Shri Phule played a crucial role in challenging the caste system, advocating for the rights of marginalized communities, women empowerment, and promoting education for all, in particular women, said Shri Dattatraya.

Phule strongly believed in the equality of all human beings regardless of caste, creed, or gender. In 1848, he founded the Satyashodhak Samaj, aiming to promote education and upliftment of the lower castes and women, added Shri Dattatraya.

The Governor said that Mahatma Phule recognized education as the key to social transformation and empowerment. He opened the first school for girls from lower castes breaking the societal norms of the time. His wife Savitribai Phule ji was India’s first women teacher.

Shri Dattatraya said that the contributions of Jyotiba Phule to Indian society are profound and enduring. He laid the foundation for the social reform movement in India, inspiring generations of activists and leaders to continue the struggle for equality and justice.

His emphasis on education as a means of empowerment remains relevant today, as India strives to build an inclusive and equitable society, added Shri Dattatraya.

The Governor said that his unwavering commitment to social justice, equality, and education serves as a guiding light for those fighting against oppression and discrimination. Chandigarh, April 11: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh expressed profound grief over the unfortunate incident involving a school bus in the village of Unhani, Kanina block, Mahendragarh district today.

In a statement issued here today, the Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the children who lost their lives in the tragic accident. He prayed to the Almighty that the departed souls rest in peace.

Sh. Nayab Singh said that strict measures will be taken against any negligence that led to this unfortunate incident. Additionally, all necessary support will be extended to the injured children for their speedy recovery.

Consecutive Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities are being organized in Yamunanagar.

Chandigarh, April 11- To increase voter turnout, consecutive Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities are being organized in Yamunanagar. Under the Voter Awareness Campaign, various educational institutions are motivating the voters to cast their votes in the upcoming festival of democracy by organising awareness rallies, painting, rangoli, debates, and competitions. Social media is also being used to encourage voters to cast their votes so that there is an effective increase in the voter turnout in the district. For these SVEEP activities, information about the importance of their votes and the festival of democracy is being provided to each voter, reaching them individually.

Sharing more details, Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer, Yamunanagar, Captain Manoj Kumar said that as per the directions of the Election Commission of India, SVEEP activities a successfully organized in the Yamunanagar, Jagadhri, and Sadhaura Assembly constituencies falling under the Ambala Lok Sabha constituency, as well as in the Radaur Assembly constituency falling under the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency, to increase the voter turnout in the Lok Sabha general elections.

He informed that various types of activities are being continuously organized by the district election office, district administration, and other departments to educate voters and increase the voter turnout compared to the previous elections. Messages of voter awareness are being conveyed through various activities to educate and inspire voters from children to the elderly, shared Captain Manoj Kumar.

He said that besides SVEEP activities, urban and rural voters are being made aware through door-to-door contacts by various departments, by placing voter awareness propaganda material on roadways buses, conducting announcements, administering voter awareness oaths, lectures, signature campaigns, human chains, and rangoli in both urban and rural areas.
