Lighting of a 15-Foot-Tall Asha Deep in Faridabad

A Festival of Light, Unity, and Hope – Vipul Goyal

Chandigarh, October 21 – In a grand and inspiring celebration on the occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights, a 15-foot-tall Asha Deep was lit at Labour Chowk, Faridabad, in the distinguished presence of Mr. Vipul Goyal, Cabinet Minister, Government of Haryana. This towering lamp of hope and harmony is set to become a glowing symbol for the entire city — a messenger of unity, development, and inspiration.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Vipul Goyal said that Diwali is not just a celebration of lights but a powerful symbol of victory of light over darkness, truth over falsehood, and hope over despair. "The festival holds real significance when we resolve to carry its light to every corner of society," he said.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from citizens, women, youth, and local social organizations, turning the celebration into a vibrant public festival. The resounding slogan of "Light a Lamp, Increase Hope" energized the atmosphere, infusing it with renewed positivity.

The Asha Deep, creatively constructed using recycled ghee and oil cans, represents a unique fusion of cultural tradition and environmental responsibility. Accompanied by soulful bhajans, cultural performances, and the lighting of thousands of diyas, the celebration conveyed messages of love, brotherhood, and unity.

The citizens of Faridabad welcomed this initiative with open hearts, describing it not only as a celebration of Diwali but also as a symbol of the Amritkaal spirit and the dawn of a New India filled with promise and purpose.

The Minister highlighted that the Asha Deep stands as a tribute to the tireless efforts of workers, professionals, and citizens who continue to shape Faridabad into a modern, vibrant, and forward-looking city. While the world decorates homes during Diwali, we are illuminating our city together. This is the identity of Faridabad, he said.

Reaffirming his commitment to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a Viksit Bharat and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s roadmap for a Viksit Haryana, he declared this initiative a powerful step in that direction.

By next Diwali, we aim to make Faridabad a model city across all metrics – infrastructure, education, cleanliness, environment, and smart services. Just as we renew our homes every Diwali, we must also elevate our city. This Asha Deep reminds us that united in purpose, no darkness can stop us. This is the message of Diwali — this is our collective resolve, he added.
