Chandigarh, 03.12.25-The Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, in association with the National Rehabilitation Institute (Regd.), successfully organized an event to celebrate World Disability Day.

Held at the Lecture Theatre Complex-1, Nehru Hospital, PGIMER, the program themed "Azadi From Deafness - 2025" highlighted advancements in hearing rehabilitation and support for the differently abled community.

The event featured insightful addresses and talks by distinguished speakers, including Prof. Jainamti Bakshi (HOD, Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, PGIMER), Chief Guest Prof. Sanjay Jain (Dean (R), PGIMER), Guest of Honor Sh. AK Datta (Director Bharat Vikas Parisahd Chandigarh) and Dr Vipin Kaushal (Medical Superintendent, PGI), Prof. Roshan Verma (Professor, Otolaryngology, PGIMER), Prof. J.K. Mahajan (HOD, Paediatric Surgery, PGIMER), Prof. Ramandeep Singh Virk (Professor, Otolaryngology, PGIMER), and Dr. Aninda Duti Banik (Senior Manager, Advanced Bionics).

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Satyawati Mohindra (Professor, Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, PGIMER).

Participating faculty and staff included Prof. Sandeep Bansal, Dr. Dharam Vir, Dr. Anuradha Sharma, Dr. Noorain Alam, Prof. Sanjay Munjal, Dr. Gyanranjan Nayak, Prof. Anurag Snehi Ramavat, and Dr. N Banumathy, and Mr. Sanjeev Kumar.

The program concluded with a felicitation of PGI Speech & Hearing alumni and NGOs working for persons with disabilities, followed by a vote of thanks by Prof. Satyawati Mohindra.

The event underscored PGIMER's ongoing commitment to inclusive healthcare and rehabilitation initiatives.
