CHANDIGARH, 04.12.25-The Tourism Department, Chandigarh, commemorated the death anniversary of Pierre Jeanneret on 04 December 2025 by organizing a series of events celebrating his remarkable contributions to the city’s architectural heritage.
The day began with a morning session at the Pierre Jeanneret Museum, Sector 5 where school students participated enthusiastically in an interactive educational programme. During the session, students were introduced to Jeanneret’s life, philosophy, and works. A guided tour was conducted by the Tourism Department to spread awareness about his legacy and his pivotal role in shaping Chandigarh’s architectural identity.
In the evening, a special commemorative event was held in collaboration with Alliance Française, under the supervision of Ms. Fiona Guerra, Director, Alliance Française Chandigarh. The gathering drew a diverse audience for a Hi-tea session, followed by an insightful presentation on Pierre Jeanneret’s monumental achievements.
Ms. Nikhita Kinger, Visiting Professor, Chandigarh College of Architecture, delivered the keynote presentation, highlighting Jeanneret’s immense contributions to Chandigarh’s modernist vision and his collaboration with Le Corbusier in building the city.
To conclude the event, an open mic session was offered to architects, students, and other participants, providing them an opportunity to share personal reflections, experiences, and stories related to Pierre Jeanneret and his lasting influence on Chandigarh.
