Ludhiana 20 December 2025-Faculty members and students of the Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana brought laurels to the University through their outstanding performance at the 40th Annual Convention of the Indian Society for the Study of Animal Reproduction (ISSAR). The convention was hosted by the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research (RIVER), Puducherry.
Dr. Ashwani Kumar Singh and Dr. Ajeet Kumar were honoured with Best Oral Presentation Awards for their impactful research contributions. Dr. Jay Pancholi, a Master’s student received the Young Scientist Award along with the Best Poster Presentation Award.
Dr. Mrigank Honparkhe, Principal Scientist, was conferred the prestigious ISSAR Fellowship–2025. Dr. Ajeet Kumar was also selected as the Chief Editor of The Indian Journal of Animal Reproduction for a second consecutive term of three years.
In another conference Dr. Gurjot Kaur Mavi, Scientist, Directorate of Livestock Farms was honoured with the prestigious Indian Poultry Science Association (IPSA)–Dr. P. Kothandaraman Memorial Award–2025, comprising a medal, certificate and a cash prize of ₹2,500. She also received the Best Oral Presentation Award for her outstanding research contributions in poultry science.
The awards were presented for her research papers titled “Effects of α-Tocopherol supplementation on semen attributes using quail egg yolk plasma in Aseel chicken” and “Comparative analysis of seminal attributes and their association with fertility in PB1, PB2 and Punjab Brown”. Notably, her work is the first of its kind reported globally on indigenous poultry breeds.
The honours were conferred during the 40th Annual Conference and National Symposium of IPSA at ICAR–Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad, which witnessed participation of over 250 delegates.
Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor, lauded the awardees for enhancing the University’s national and international reputation. Dr. Swaran Singh Randhawa, Dean, College of Veterinary Science and Dr. P.S. Brar, Director of Research also congratulated the achievers.
