Ludhiana 15 January 2026-Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, has secured a prestigious research grant via the Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research (PAIR) program, established by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). The PAIR program uses a flexible hub-and-spoke model to promote mentorship and collaborative innovation. Under this initiative, Vet Varsity will be one of the institutions, along with Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla; Sambalpur University, Burla; Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR), Bhubaneswar; Fakir Mohan University (FMU), Balasore; International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bhubaneswar; and Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar, partnering with the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, the hub. These institutions will form a research consortium called: “Consortium of Technologies for Sustainable Agriculture, Health, Energy, and Environment.”
Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice Chancellor, extended special congratulations and conveyed that this grant will not only strengthen the research infrastructure but will also reinforce the university’s role in addressing critical challenges in animal health, food innovation, and sustainable healthcare technologies. He expressed confidence that these projects will make a significant contribution to national development and advance global scientific discussions.

A total budget of 90.53 Crore has been allocated to the PAIR ANRF program, out of which Vet Varsity will receive a grant of 4.08 Crore. The University will oversee three interdisciplinary subprojects. The first project, "AI/ML-Enabled Systems for Monitoring Livestock Health, Optimizing Production, and Improving Sustainability," is led by Dr. Devendra Pathak, Dr. Sikh Tejinder Singh, and Dr. Navdeep Singh. It aims to leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve livestock health monitoring, increase productivity, and support sustainable animal farming.
The second project, "Enhancement of Protein Functional Properties via Non-Thermal Techniques for Novel Food Product Development: Modeling, In Vitro Evaluation, and Human Health Implications," involves Dr. Sunil Kumar, Dr. Rekha Chawla, Dr. Anju Boora Khatkar, and Dr. Narender Kumar Chandla. It focuses on exploring non-thermal processing methods to enhance protein functionality for innovative food products with health benefits. The third project, “Development of Biodegradable Biomaterials for Application in Healthcare Technologies," is led by Dr. Manu M and Dr. Kuldip Gupta and aims to create eco-friendly biomaterials for medical and healthcare uses, supporting global sustainability efforts.
