Chandigarh, March 9, 2026: NSS Open Unit, Chandigarh celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2026 at the Centre for Public Health, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The program aimed to recognize contributions of women in society & to spread awareness about women’s empowerment and social responsibility.
The event was graced by distinguished guests including Dr. Nemi Chand Golia, Prof. Bikram Rana, Mr. Sanjeev Rana, Dr. Arun Bansal, Mrs. Ranjana, Dr. Ravneet, and Dr. Manoj Kumar as the Chief Guests. They addressed the gathering and shared their valuable thoughts on the importance of women’s empowerment, social service, and the role of youth in building a progressive society. Women who have contributed towards national building were honored including Ms. Swati Chawla, Ms. Pranita Biswas, Ms. Jatinder Kaur, Prof. Santosh Sharma, Smt. Seema Rani, Smt. Asha Rani, Dr. Sangeeta, Mrs. Seema Choudhary, Mrs. Manpreet Kaur, Mrs. Sunita Sheoran, Dr. Nisha Singla, and Dr. Meenakshi (PGI).
Winners of the Poster Making competition Ms. Himanshi as 1st, Ms.Babita as 2nd and Prisha Batra as 3rd position were announced out of 30 other participants organised as part of the International Women’s Day celebration.
The entire program was organized under the guidance of Dr. Binesh Bhatia, Program Officer of NSS Open Unit, State NSS Cell, whose support and leadership played an important role in the successful conduct of the event.
