Chandigarh, April 12, 2026-Stree Samarthya Foundation organized a press conference today at Press Club, Sector-27, Chandigarh. The conference was addressed by Neelu Tiwari (Retired Professor, Hindi Department), Manvinder Bajwa (Former Vice Principal), Ranjoo Airi (Retired Senior Editor) and Dr. Rosie Dhawan Arora (MDS).
The speakers described the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, 2023 as a historic, visionary and transformative step towards women empowerment. They stated that the Act is a milestone in India’s democratic history, empowering women not only as participants but as key decision-makers.
They highlighted that the Act ensures 33% reservation for women in Lok Sabha and all State Legislative Assemblies, including seats reserved for SC/ST categories. This provision will institutionalize women’s political participation and place them at the center of policymaking.
The speakers emphasized that when women lead, society as a whole benefits. Global studies have shown that greater participation of women strengthens the economy, enhances social balance, and promotes inclusive growth.
They noted that in recent years, several government initiatives such as Ujjwala Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission, Mudra Yojana and Jan Dhan Yojana have significantly improved the quality of life for women.
They further stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this long-pending reform is now being realized, strengthening Indian democracy.
In conclusion, the Foundation stated that the Act will transform women from beneficiaries into decision-makers, strengthening India’s journey towards inclusive development.
