Chandigarh, April 23:- Demonstrating a strong commitment towards strengthening urban infrastructure and enhancing public amenities, Mayor Sh. Saurabh Joshi today led the foundation stone laying ceremony for multiple development works worth ₹165 lakhs in Sector 24 under the aegis of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The ceremony was held at the open space between SCO 94 and Ganesh Market in the presence of senior officials of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and prominent persons of the area.

Under the Mayor’s leadership, several key works have been initiated to upgrade civic infrastructure in the area. These include upgradation of market flooring in SCOs and booth markets, reconstruction of an old public toilet block to enhance sanitation facilities, strengthening of the existing sewerage system in Ward No. 12, and installation of stainless steel house indicator boards across important locations. The total estimated cost of these development works stands at ₹165 lakhs, reflecting a significant investment in improving civic amenities.

In addition, provisions have been made for the development of jogging tracks in Sector 24 A and D, aimed at promoting a healthier lifestyle among residents. These tracks will provide dedicated, safe, and well-maintained spaces for morning and evening walkers, further enhancing the recreational infrastructure of the area.

Addressing the gathering, Mayor Saurabh Joshi emphasized that these initiatives reflect the Municipal Corporation’s sustained efforts to improve urban infrastructure and ensure greater public convenience. He highlighted that strengthening basic civic amenities, particularly in busy market areas and residential sectors, remains a top priority for the Corporation.

The Mayor further reiterated the Corporation’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure with timely execution, ensuring that development projects directly benefit residents and contribute to the city’s overall growth.

The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh continues to focus on sustainable urban development and remains dedicated to providing improved civic services across all sectors of the city.
