Chandigarh, June 3:- In a significant step towards improving civic infrastructure in one of the city's prominent commercial hubs, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has ordered repair of the rear service road and strengthening of lighting infrastructure behind the Madhya Marg showroom belt in Sector 26.

A detailed site inspection was conducted by MC Chief Engineer Sh. Sanjay Arora, accompanied by Superintending Engineers and concerned Executive Engineers of the Engineering and Electrical Wings. The inspection was undertaken following concerns raised by traders and showroom owners regarding the deteriorating condition of the service road in the area.

During the inspection, officials observed that several stretches of the rear service road had developed damages and required urgent repair to facilitate smooth and safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians. The team also reviewed housekeeping arrangements, maintenance of berms and removal of obstructions affecting accessibility in certain locations.

The Chief Engineer instructed the concerned departments to undertake all repair and maintenance works on priority. Necessary patchwork, strengthening of damaged road portions and improvement of civic amenities will be executed after technical assessment, while progress of the works will be monitored closely to ensure timely completion.

Officials noted that the Sector 26 showroom belt witnesses substantial commercial activity and attracts a large number of visitors daily. The proposed improvements are expected to enhance accessibility, public convenience and overall urban infrastructure standards in the area.

The Municipal Corporation reiterated its commitment to providing quality civic services and responsive governance by addressing public concerns in a time-bound manner.

MC Chandigarh clears encroachments near Fun Republic, impounds 13 vehicles & 16 challans issued

Chandigarh, June 3:- Continuing its sustained campaign against encroachments and unauthorized occupation of public spaces, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today carried out a special anti-encroachment drive in Sector 13, Manimajra, particularly in and around the parking area near Fun Republic.

During the enforcement operation, the MC team removed various encroachments obstructing public movement and cleared the entire Fun Republic parking area from unauthorized occupation. As part of the drive, 13 illegally parked/encroaching vehicles were impounded. The enforcement team also seized tool boxes and other material belonging to mechanics who had unlawfully occupied public space for commercial activities.

To ensure strict compliance with civic regulations, a total of 16 challans were issued against violators for encroachment and related offences.
