Chandigarh-5 June 2026-State Bank of India, Local Head Office, Chandigarh, organised a Cyclothon in association with 92.7 BIG FM to commemorate World Environment Day 2026 and promote public awareness about this year’s theme, “Inspired by Nature, For Climate, For Our Future.”

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 300 cyclists, including SBI employees, students, professionals, and cycling enthusiasts from diverse walks of life. The Cyclothon was flagged off by Shri Krishan Sharma and Shri Amaresh Kumar Jha, Chief General Managers, Chandigarh Circle, in the presence of Shri Neeraj Bharti and Shri Binod Kumar Sinha, General Managers (Network-II), Shri Manmeet S. Chhabra, General Manager (Network-I), Shri Sunit Mehta, Regional Business Head, 92.7 BIG FM, and other senior executives of the Bank.

The Cyclothon aimed to promote environmental consciousness, sustainable living, and healthy lifestyle practices among citizens. As part of the celebrations, a tree plantation drive was also undertaken, reaffirming SBI’s commitment to environmental sustainability and ecological conservation.

Addressing the participants, Shri Krishan Sharma and Shri Amaresh Kumar Jha emphasised that even the smallest environmentally responsible action can contribute significantly towards building a sustainable future. They urged citizens to adopt simple yet impactful practices such as conserving electricity and water, avoiding unnecessary printing, planting trees, maintaining clean surroundings, and embracing eco-friendly habits in their daily lives. They expressed that environment protection is not merely a responsibility towards the present generation but a commitment to future generations. They further highlighted the importance of conserving fuel and energy in view of global uncertainties and resource constraints.

The event concluded with a pledge by participants to contribute towards a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future.
