Illegal occupation of public spaces cleared, vendors removed from key areas by MCC

Chandigarh, June 24:- Continuing its sustained campaign against encroachments and unauthorized occupation of public spaces, the enforcement wing of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh carried out an extensive drive across various parts of the city today, issuing a total of 56 challans.

The drive commenced in Patel Market, Sector 15, where action was taken against shopkeepers and showroom owners who had illegally occupied Municipal Corporation land. Encroachments were removed and pedestrian corridors were restored to ensure smooth public movement.

Subsequently, a special enforcement drive was conducted in the Sector 26 Outer Mandi, where several illegal vendors and rehri operators were found occupying public spaces. The encroachments were removed and unauthorized rehri units were impounded.

In the evening, the enforcement team conducted another operation near the Sector 45 light point, removing illegal vendors obstructing public pathways and traffic movement.

Municipal Corporation Chandigarh reiterated its commitment to keeping public spaces free from encroachments and ensuring convenience, safety and accessibility for all citizens.
