Solan, July 13: BJP Himachal Pradesh President Dr. Rajeev Bindal expressed gratitude to the people of the state, the newly elected Zila Parishad members, and party workers following the BJP's decisive victory in the Solan Zila Parishad President and Vice-President elections. He said the outcome is not merely a local body election result but a clear indication of the public mandate ahead of the 2027 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections.
Dr. Bindal said that the unanimous election of the BJP-backed candidates for the posts of President and Vice-President in the Solan Zila Parishad clearly demonstrates that the people of Solan have placed their trust in the Bharatiya Janata Party. He expressed confidence that the BJP would win all five Assembly constituencies of Solan district in the 2027 Assembly elections.
Highlighting the overall performance of the BJP in the Zila Parishad elections, Dr. Bindal stated that elections have so far been completed in eight districts of Himachal Pradesh. He claimed that BJP-backed candidates have secured the positions of President and Vice-President in seven Zila Parishads, while the Congress managed to secure only one Zila Parishad by a narrow margin. He further alleged that in several districts the Congress Party could not even field candidates for the top posts, reflecting its weakening political position in the state.
Dr. Bindal said that in Solan, the Congress failed to field candidates for the offices of President and Vice-President. As a result, Kumari Sheela was elected unanimously as the President of the Solan Zila Parishad, while Pankaj Sharma was unanimously elected as the Vice-President. He described this as a decisive endorsement of the BJP's organisational strength and public support.
The BJP State President alleged that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu made every possible effort to delay the Panchayati Raj and Zila Parishad elections. He claimed that the elections were eventually conducted nearly eight months later than the scheduled timeline following the intervention of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, which, according to him, reflected the Congress government's reluctance to face the electorate.
Dr. Bindal further alleged that during the election process, the Congress government misused state machinery and administrative influence in an attempt to secure political advantage. He claimed that BJP-backed Zila Parishad, Block Development Committee (BDC), and local body members were subjected to intimidation, pressure, transfers of family members, and false legal cases. Despite these alleged attempts, he said, the Congress failed to achieve its objectives, while the people firmly stood with the BJP.
He further alleged that after nearly four years in office, the Congress government has failed to meet public expectations. According to him, development has slowed, unemployment remains a major concern, welfare initiatives have suffered, and corruption has increased. He accused the state government of using power to benefit a select few rather than serving the interests of the people.
Dr. Bindal said that the Zila Parishad election results clearly indicate that the people of Himachal Pradesh have lost confidence in the Congress government. He expressed confidence that in the 2027 Assembly elections, the people of the state would decisively reject the Congress and give the BJP a full mandate to form the next government.
Congratulating the newly elected representatives, Dr. Bindal expressed hope that they would work with dedication, transparency, and commitment to ensure the overall development and welfare of Solan district and its people.
