Chandigarh, July 24:- A team of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh Led by Joint Commissioner Dr. Inder Jeet and Chief Engineer Sh. Sanjay Arora, today conducted a surprise inspection of the paid parking at MOH Parking and the adjoining parking areas near the DC Office, Sector 17, to review parking management and public convenience.

The inspection was carried out in the presence of Executive Engineer, Road Division No.3, along with officers and officials of the B&R Wing and the Parking Branch.

During the inspection, the officers observed that the parking area witnesses heavy public footfall due to the presence of several government offices, including the office of the Registrar, Chandigarh Administration. Various issues affecting smooth parking operations were identified, including a narrow entry point, unauthorized parking on verandahs and footpaths, overgrown trees reducing usable parking space, inadequate parking bay markings, and the absence of separate parking arrangements for cars and two-wheelers.

The Joint Commissioner and Chief Engineer directed the concerned officers to take immediate corrective measures to improve parking management and ensure greater convenience for visitors. They instructed that fresh thermoplastic paint markings be carried out to clearly demarcate parking bays, dedicated staff be deployed to regulate vehicle movement, trees be trimmed to maximize available parking space, and suitable barricades be installed to create separate parking areas for cars and two-wheelers.

They emphasized that these measures will help improve traffic circulation, ensure better utilization of available parking space, and provide a more organized and hassle-free parking experience for the public.
