Chandigarh, 14.08.26-: State Bank of India (SBI), RBO-4 Chandigarh, has organised a three-day PM Vishwakarma Exhibition at Sector 8-C, Chandigarh, which will continue till August 14.

The exhibition provides traditional artisans and craftspeople with a dedicated platform to showcase their products and sell them directly to customers. It offers artisans an extended opportunity to display their traditional products, interact directly with customers and explore new markets for their craftsmanship.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Vinit Kumar, Regional Manager, SBI RBO-4 Chandigarh. On the occasion, Vinit Kumar said that SBI is committed to effectively supporting the Government of India’s flagship initiatives aimed at the welfare and economic empowerment of traditional artisans.

The PM Vishwakarma Scheme, launched by the Government of India, is an important initiative aimed at strengthening the livelihoods of artisans and craftspeople engaged in traditional trades. Under the scheme, artisans are provided support through skill development, modern tools, concessional credit, digital incentives and marketing assistance, enabling them to expand their businesses and enhance their income.

The participating artisans are getting an important opportunity to move beyond traditional local markets and directly reach consumers. Visitors can explore and purchase a variety of products prepared by skilled artisans, thereby directly supporting their livelihoods.
SBI officials also interacted with the participating artisans and apprised them of various banking facilities and financial services available to support their entrepreneurial activities. The initiative reinforces SBI’s commitment towards financial inclusion, self-employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihood creation.

Such exhibitions play an important role in promoting India’s rich cultural heritage while creating sustainable economic opportunities for artisans who have preserved traditional skills and crafts for generations. By promoting the spirit of ‘Vocal for Local’, the initiative encourages consumers to support indigenous handicrafts and locally produced goods.

The PM Vishwakarma Exhibition organised by SBI RBO-4 Chandigarh is not merely a sales platform but also an important step towards empowering artisans, promoting traditional craftsmanship and strengthening grassroots entrepreneurship. The initiative is in line with the Government of India’s vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Viksit Bharat’.
