Chandigarh, September 30, 2026:Bharatiya Janata Party Chandigarh Pradesh Media In-charge Ravi Rawat strongly criticized the Aam Aadmi Party’s attempt to gherao the BJP Pradesh Office and stage a protest today, saying that AAP should first answer questions regarding the conduct of its own leaders and the events in Delhi before making allegations against the BJP.
Ravi Rawat said that following police action in the matter involving AAP MLA Jarnail Singh, staging a protest outside the BJP office in Chandigarh is clearly an attempt to turn the issue into a political controversy. He said that while political protest is part of democracy, giving a political colour to legal proceedings and attempting to create an atmosphere in Chandigarh is not appropriate.
He said that AAP is also presenting incomplete facts regarding the road construction issue. According to the available information, a temporary road arrangement was made at the request of the concerned Gurudwara Committee to meet the immediate requirement in view of an upcoming religious programme. Permanent construction was to be undertaken as per the prescribed procedure and tender conditions. Calling such an arrangement a scam without concrete evidence is nothing but political opportunism.
Ravi Rawat said that if the Aam Aadmi Party has concrete evidence of corruption, it should make it public and place it before the competent investigating agency. Merely making allegations and attempting to gherao the BJP office does not turn an allegation into a fact.
He said that AAP is resorting to such political drama and manufactured controversies to gain electoral advantage in the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections. Bringing a Delhi controversy to Chandigarh and protesting outside the BJP office shows that instead of presenting concrete answers to the people on local issues, the Aam Aadmi Party is relying on political theatrics.
Ravi Rawat said that before talking about morality, AAP should introspect on the public conduct of its own leaders. The people of Chandigarh understand the facts and will not be misled by such political tactics being carried out for electoral gains.
He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party stands for transparency and quality in development works and supports an impartial inquiry into any genuine irregularity. However, the politics of calling development works scams without evidence and using them for political mileage will be exposed before the people with facts.
