Chandigarh, October 2: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party Chandigarh Pradesh conducted an extensive cleanliness drive at the Sector-26 Grain Market under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, being undertaken under the leadership of State President Jatinder Pal Malhotra. BJP leaders and workers participated in the cleanliness drive and appealed for greater public participation in building a clean, healthy and beautiful Chandigarh.

BJP Chandigarh Pradesh Prabhari Mahendra Pandey specially participated in the campaign and joined the party office-bearers and workers in performing shramdaan. He said that Mahatma Gandhi regarded cleanliness as an important foundation for building a healthy society and a strong nation. Taking forward his message of cleanliness and service and taking it to every section of society is a collective responsibility.

Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu, former State President Arun Sood, programme convenor and State Vice President Bharat Kumar, Chandigarh Mayor Saurabh Joshi, State Media In-charge Ravi Rawat, State Secretary Shashi Shankar Tiwari, SC Morcha President Amit Khairwal, Area Councillor Dilip Sharma , Councillor Manoj Sonkar and Mandal President Varinder Zed, along with Mandal office-bearers and a large number of BJP workers, participated in the programme.

BJP leaders and workers cleaned the Sector-26 Grain Market and contributed to the cleanliness drive. Local residents were also encouraged to maintain cleanliness at public places. The leaders said that cleanliness is not the responsibility of the government or administration alone, but a collective responsibility of every citizen. When every individual takes responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean, cleanliness becomes a sustainable mass movement.

Cleanliness Drive Conducted Across All 35 Mandals

The scale of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan was reflected in the fact that, along with the Sector-26 Grain Market, cleanliness drives were organised across all 35 Mandals of Chandigarh Pradesh. BJP office-bearers, public representatives and workers participated in shramdaan at various public places and sensitised citizens about cleanliness.

BJP Chandigarh Pradesh said that Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is not merely a programme, but a commitment to strengthen the spirit of service, responsibility and public participation towards society. Party office-bearers and workers remain committed to continuously connecting with society through service and actively contributing to issues of public welfare.

Through the campaign organised on Gandhi Jayanti, BJP workers conveyed the message of making cleanliness a social habit. Citizens were also appealed to dispose of waste at designated places, maintain cleanliness at public locations and motivate others around them to contribute towards cleanliness.

BJP Chandigarh Pradesh said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has connected cleanliness with public participation across the country. Taking this spirit forward, Chandigarh BJP continues to give momentum to programmes related to service, cleanliness and social awareness.

The campaign, extending from Sector-26 Grain Market to all 35 Mandals of Chandigarh, demonstrated the commitment of BJP workers towards service and cleanliness. Through shramdaan on Gandhi Jayanti, BJP conveyed the message that cleanliness should not remain limited to a single day or campaign, but should become a part of everyday life.
