Chandigarh, October 23, 2026: The AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament concluded today, players from Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana competing in different age categories. The tournament, held during the week commencing October 19, provided young players an opportunity to showcase their talent and gain competitive experience.
Dr. Mahinder Singh, Joint Director Sports, Chandigarh Administration, attended the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest, formally concluded the tournament and distributed prizes to the winners. He congratulated the young players and encouraged them to continue working hard, uphold sportsmanship, and strive for excellence in their sporting careers.
The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Bhagwant Singh (IYA), Shri Gurminder Singh, Senior Hockey Coach, Shri Sanjay Sharma, Manager, and other officials and sports enthusiasts.
Tournament Results – 23 October 2026
1. Boys' Singles Under-12 (BS12): Nikunj Arora (Chandigarh) defeated Haranjan Lamba (Punjab) by 6–3, 6–1.
2. Boys' Singles Under-16 (BS16): Yug Mahi (Punjab) defeated Ayaan Chandel (Chandigarh) by 5–7, 6–4, 6–4.
3. Girls' Singles Under-16 (GS16): Japji Badohal (Punjab) defeated Tanya Bhatnagar (Haryana) by 6–0, 3–6, 6–2.
4. Girls' Singles Under-12 (GS12): Saumya Sharma (Punjab) won against Ayanna Singh (Punjab) by walkover (W.O.).
The Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration, congratulated the winners and participants and appreciated the efforts of the tournament officials and supporting staff in successfully conducting the event.
