SHIMLA -4th April, 2026-Governor Kavinder Gupta today presided over the Statehood Day celebrations of Rajasthan, Odisha and Bihar organized at Lok Bhavan. The function was organized under the “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” initiative aimed at promoting cultural unity and emotional bonding among the states of India.

On the occasion the Governor, warmly addressed the gathering and presented traditional Himachali caps and shawls to the distinguished guests which symbolizes friendship and unity.

The event featured vibrant cultural exchanges showcasing the rich heritage of Rajasthan, Odisha and Bihar. The Government employees from these states shared their experiences of living and working in Himachal Pradesh which highlights the warmth, camaraderie and strong sense of belonging they have experienced in the state.

In his address, the Governor said that India’s strength lies in its unity in diversity. He said that initiatives like “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” play an important role in strengthening the cultural fabric of the nation by encouraging mutual understanding and respect among people of different states.

Sh. Gupta further said that Bihar, Rajasthan and Odisha were known for their ancient civilizations, rich history and vibrant cultural traditions. He said that understanding each other’s culture, language and traditions helps in strengthening national unity.

The Governor said that people from these states have made significant contributions to the development of Himachal Pradesh. Such cultural interactions promote harmony, mutual respect and a spirit of brotherhood, thereby strengthening the social fabric of the nation.

On the occasion, the Governor also announced that Lok Bhavan, Shimla will be opened to the general public on two days every week. This initiative aims to bring the Lok Bhavan closer to the people and ensure that citizens feel a sense of ownership and connection with the institution. He said that Lok Bhavan should not remain confined to official use but should reflect the aspirations and participation of the people it serves.
