Poonam, a resident of Chandigarh, has been working in jewellery for 25 years and she has come to the mela with her special collection. She told that the demand for temple jewellery is the highest here. We have all kinds of jewellery, which you will find in big shops, but its prices are not like that. It is prepared with just 1 gram gold polish. We get our jewellery prepared ourselves. Here people are liking pea garland, temple sets, long sets, earrings etc. more.
She said that today the price of gold has reached close to 75 thousand per tola. This is beyond the reach of common people, but we are making such jewellery that anyone can buy or wear. Apart from jewellery made from 1 gram gold polish, we also have a good range of silver, ethnic, AD etc. The price of temple set starts from 3500 to 12 thousand rupees.
She said that people today prefer to wear gold less because keeping it safe is a challenge. It is also beyond reach and most of the time gold remains in the bank locker. That is why people are liking our jewellery and it is in no way less than the real one. Apart from this, people are also liking the necklaces of ruby, emerald, topaz, sapphire etc.

Sarees from Telangana are also being liked
30-year-old Ashok has come to the craft mela with a collection of ladies clothes from Telangana. There is a lot of demand for his clothes. He said that we have sarees available in both silk and cotton. Its range starts from 1000 rupees and goes up to 4000 rupees.
He said that we have silk sarees like Kosa, Michelin, Chanderi, Duplin etc. Apart from this, there is also a collection of sarees in cotton. If I talk about the most special saree, then it is Kosa silk. It takes 1 to 1.5 months to weave it and then zari work is done on it. Its range starts from 3500 and its rate is decided according to the design. He said that apart from this, we also have a wide range of cotton suits and dupattas. People are liking this too.
