Chandigarh,09.07.24-Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER and Thalassemic Charitable Trust (TCT) PGIMER organized its 301st Blood Donation Camp at Community Centre Sector 38 Chandigarh on 9th July 2024 with the support of Harsh Estates Sector 38 Chandigarh. This Blood Donation Camp was also significant as the availability of blood decreases in summer months due to fewer number of blood donation events. This Camp was dedicated for thalassaemic patients who need regular blood transfusions after 15-20 days and all other needy patients.

Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) PGIMER and Punjab Red Cross Chandigarh also participated in this

Blood Donation Camp and ROTTO had registered 14 persons for voluntary organ donation.

There was also an arrangement of Langar Seva and Chabeel in which Mata Mansa Devi Bhandara and Verka Lassi distributed to the general public throughout the day.

During the camp, a total of 114 voluntary blood donors donated blood.The success of this camp is dedicated to the entire team of Department of Transfusion Medicine PGI, Staff and Members of Thalassaemic Charitable Trust. Prof(Dr.) RR Sharma-HOD, Deptt. of Transfusion Medicine, Smt. Vibha Mittal-Executive Chairperson and Sh.Rajinder Kalra-Member Secretary on behalf of Thalassaemic Charitable TrustPGIMER thanked all the blood donors; the entire team of Deptt. of Transfusion Medicine PGI and M/s HarshEstates Sector 38, Chandigarh and they emphasised the need for voluntary blood donation to save precious lives needing blood support.
