Chandigarh,06.09.24- : Desh Bhagat University celebrated Teachers' Day' function in a big way in which teaching staff and students of different faculties took part. Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University inaugurated the event. Paying respectful homage to Dr. Radha Krishanan, the late President of India and a great teacher, educationist, and philosopher, Dr. Zora Singh said, ‘Teachers play a great role in the development of the youth, the society and the country. The developed nations and societies ruled the world by virtue of their ‘knowledge’ and the source of this knowledge is the teacher. He further added that a good teacher is always a student who is always ready to learn without any ego and maintains his/her self esteem.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Abhijit Joshi, Vice Chancellor said that Teaching is a noble profession as teachers make a great impact on the growth, development and well-being of the students and nation. He shared reminiscences of his school, college and university teachers.

On this occasion Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Dr Virinder Singh Advisor to Chancellor, Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice President and Mr Sudip Mukherji, Registrar DBU congratulated everybody and told the teachers to recognise their worth and adopt professional ethics and moral values.

The highlight of the function was after cake the cutting ceremony the Awards Function to honour the Directors, the administrators, the teachers, and the non-teaching employees for their special contribution and distinguished services to the cause of education and development of the group and the University.

Dr H K Sidhu Director Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences proposed a vote of thanks and said that a teacher is like a friend, a guide, a philosopher, and a Power house who shows the right path to the students and makes their lives worth living.The event was convened by Dr. Surjeet Kaur Patheja, Director Media and Performing arts Department whose dedicated efforts ensured its success.

On this occasion a colourful cultural function was organised, in which students as well as teachers performed cat walk and gidha on the stage. The entertaining part of the programme was the students enacting & mimicking their teachers. They sang situational songs for them and presented greeting cards as a token of their respect and appreciation. The program ended leaving behind sweet memories that will be cherished lifelong.
