Ludhiana 03 October 2024-As part of the "Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign 2024, the NSS unit of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University organised a poster-making and slogan-writing competition on the theme ‘Say No to Plastic’ to bring environmental awareness among volunteers. After the competition, a large-scale cleanliness drive was organised to collect plastic around the University Small Animal Clinic promoting a cleaner and greener India.

These cleanliness drives, awareness programmes and tree plantation are in line with the nationwide "Swachhta Hi Seva Abhiyan 2024," with the theme "Swabhav Swachhata – Sanskar Swachhata”.

The fortnight cleanliness programmes were initiated in the presence of Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director of Students’ Welfare, along with the NSS Programme Coordinator and Programme officers of various colleges.

Dr. Nidhi Sharma, NSS Programme Coordinator informed that in this 15-days campaign more than 150 dedicated NSS volunteers participated in the drive, to thoroughly clean the clinical premises, area nearby canal, and the labs in their colleges.

Dr. Vishal Sharma, NSS Programme Officer of College of Animal Biotechnology said that students showcased their artistic talents and creativity by designing various posters and powerful slogans centered on the theme of no plastic for a clean and green environment.

Dr. Narender Kumar and Dr. S S Hassan NSS Programme Coordinators of different colleges inspired a sense of environmental responsibility among the participants.

Dr. Harkirat Singh, Incharge Landscaping and S. Jaskaran Singh, Assistant Estate Officer provided full support to the NSS Wing for successful culmination of Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign.
