MAHENDERGARH, 28.10.24-The Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh has launched an impactful outreach program designed to empower rural students through hands-on training in biotechnology. Inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar on the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Nanaji Deshmukh, this program will run over 25 weeks, with students from various schools participating each week. The initiative aims to train 1,000 students currently enrolled in 11th and 12th, as well as undergraduates. Today, the program commenced with 40 enthusiastic students from S.D. Sr. Sec. School Kakrala, as a first batch. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar welcomed the students, encouraging them to embrace modern scientific methods and utilize these advanced tools ethically for the sustainable development of the country.
The training started with an informative overview presented by Dr. Humira Sonah and Dr. Rupesh Deshmukh. Students then engaged in a hands-on session where they individually extracted DNA from soybean and cucumber leaf tissues. Research scholars from the Department of Biotechnology, including Dr. Sreeja Sudhakaran, Mukesh Meghwal, Pawan Kumar, Badal Mahakalkar, Pragati, Sagar Zanjal, and Gopika Mote, provided personalized guidance, ensuring each participant had an engaging and educational experience.
Prof. Pawan Kumar Maurya and Prof. Kanti Prakash Sharma, Organizing Secretary of the program said that this outreach program highlights CUH’s commitment to bridging the gap between advanced scientific education and rural communities, nurturing a new generation of skilled individuals in the field of biotechnology.
