Chandigarh, January 17 - Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini directed officials to get all the ponds of the state cleaned so that their water can be used for drinking by animals or for irrigation etc. With the cooperation of Panchayats, villagers should be motivated to not let garbage and dirty water from homes go into the ponds, he said.
The Chief Minister was chairing a review meeting of The Haryana Pond and Waste Water Management Authority in Chandigarh on Thursday.
Senior officials of various departments, including Development and Panchayats Department, Irrigation, Forest, Urban Local Bodies, Fisheries, Public Works Department and National Highway Authority of India were present in the meeting.
Recharge 500 villages with low groundwater level in first phase
Expressing concern over the falling groundwater level, the Chief Minister said in the first phase, a target of recharging groundwater of 500 villages should be set and this work should be completed within the stipulated period. He said Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has also expressed concern over the falling groundwater level. The Prime Minister had said that the depletion of groundwater is the biggest challenge for the country and we all have to work together to deal with this challenge. He had called upon the people to fight water pollution.
The Chief Minister said we should also work in accordance with the Prime Minister's vision and build as many ponds as possible in the dark zone so that water can be stored during the rainy season. This will not only improve the groundwater level but this water can also be used for other purposes after the rains. He also directed to explore the possibilities of using the Hansi-Butana link canal for water storage.
Comprehensive water management through water audit
While giving instructions to do comprehensive water management through a water audit in the state, the Chief Minister said the Prime Minister had recently launched the first phase of the National River Link Project to interlink rivers. On the same lines, the Chief Minister instructed the officials to prepare a road map to interlink the rivers passing through the state. This will help in avoiding the damage caused by floods during rainy days and raising the low groundwater level.
Strengthen the embankments of rivers: CM
The Chief Minister said the Amrit Sarita Yojana was envisaged in the Sankalp Patra. Under this, the embankments of all the canals and rivers of the state have to be strengthened. He said this work can be done under the MGNREGA scheme. Strengthening the embankments will prevent incidents of canal breakage. He also instructed officials to form a task force to stop theft of water from canals.
Emphasis on fish farming in waterlogged areas
While giving instructions to make arrangements for water drainage through solar pumps to fix the waterlogging in Charkhi Dadri, Jhajjar, Mahendragarh, Sonipat, Rohtak and some other areas, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said fish farming business can be started by making ponds in the surrounding areas. Farmers must be encouraged for this so that water can be easily drained from the waterlogged area.
Plantation should be done on the banks of Amrit Sarovars
The Chief Minister was informed in the meeting that a total of 19,716 sarovars have been built in the state under The Haryana Pond and Waste Water Management Authority, out of which 18,813 are in villages and the rest are in cities. After reviewing all the Amrit Sarovars, the Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure the maintenance of the sarovars which are ready and plantation should also be done on their banks. This will strengthen the banks and the environment will also remain clean. He directed to officials to inspire the villagers to get their daughters to plant trees so that they have a sense of belongingness with these trees.
The Chief Minister, while instructing all the departments to work in coordination, said at present, the groundwater level is continuously falling. While the Amrit Sarovar Yojana will help in raising the groundwater level, the ponds must remain clean and people will also remain healthy due to pollution-free ponds.

Chandigarh, January 17 – Haryana Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini today chaired a joint meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of the state and directed them to work with mutual coordination to address critical issues such as law and order, crime against women, drug addiction, child labour, and illegal mining.
Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sh Harvinder Kalyan also attended the meeting, which took place at the Madhuban Police Complex in Karnal.
Prior to the meeting, the Chief Minister led the officers in reading the Preamble of the Constitution as part of the Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Swabhiman Abhiyan.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police serve as the face of the government at the grassroots level and that the people of the state have high expectations from them. He urged all officers to work in close coordination to meet these expectations and ensure the efficient implementation of government policies. He also directed them to promote administrative efficiency, ensuring that the benefits of various welfare programs reach the public at the grassroots level.
*Ensure implementation of new criminal laws by March 31*
The Chief Minister, while directing officials to effectively implement the three new criminal laws in the state, emphasized the need for their full enforcement by March 31. He instructed that, in addition to other provisions, video conferencing facilities should be made available in all courts across the state. Furthermore, he stressed the implementation of e-summons and e-challans, which will spare witnesses from having to appear in court to record their statements. The Chief Minister highlighted that the primary objective of these new laws is to ensure transparent and timely justice for the people. He reiterated that the state's government aims to ensure that the innocent are not wrongfully punished, while the guilty receive the harshest punishment. He urged all officials to collaborate effectively to achieve these goals.
*State government is committed to the safety of women*
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state government's commitment to the safety of women and girls across Haryana. He directed the officers to ensure that the committee formed at the district level effectively monitors crimes against women and takes appropriate action in each case.
*DC and SP should jointly conduct joint operation to curb drug abuse*
The Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to jointly carry out operations against drug abuse in their respective districts. He emphasized that eradicating the illegal drug trade is a top priority for the state government. The officers were urged to work in coordination to identify the drug mafia, target the drug supply chain, and dismantle it, with the ultimate goal of making the state completely drug-free.
In addition to taking strict action against drug abuse, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of raising awareness among the youth about the harmful effects of drugs. He mentioned that marathons are being organized across the state as part of the drug-free campaign and encouraged officers to ensure maximum youth participation in these events. Furthermore, he directed the officers to regularly monitor all drug de-addiction centers in each district. Sh Nayab Singh Saini, while giving firm instructions to make Haryana drug-free and take strict action against Chinhit Apradh, assured the officers that they have been given free hand to carry out these tasks.
The Chief Minister instructed the Deputy Commissioners to conduct regular meetings of the Vigilance Committee at the district and sub-division levels under the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act. Apart from this, in view of major accidents, instructions were also given to hold regular meetings of the District Road Safety Committee, monitor safe vehicle policy, and deal strictly with hit and run cases.
*Take decisive action to curb illegal mining*
Taking note of the illegal mining cases in the state, the Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to take immediate and decisive action to curb such illegal activities. He also mentioned that the mining department has also been instructed to implement prompt measures to address the issue.
*A child welfare officer be stationed at every police station*
The Chief Minister, while addressing the Superintendents of Police, directed that a dedicated child welfare officer be stationed at every police station. He said that these officers should be provided with proper training to protect children and teenagers from sexual crimes, with the goal of preventing such heinous offenses. In addition, Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police have been entrusted the responsibility of curbing child marriages. He also instructed that the existing task force, led by the District Magistrate, for the prevention of child labor, be made more effective in its operations.
The Chief Minister highlighted that a special cleanliness campaign is underway in the state, running until January 31. He instructed the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to ensure the success of this initiative, emphasizing that the cleanliness of every government office is also being prioritized as part of the campaign. To support this, each department will appoint a nodal officer responsible for updating data on the central monitoring portal. Additionally, the Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to implement the use of e-office by March 2025 to streamline operations and save time.
*Identify and take firm action against those involved in sending youth abroad via donkey routes*
While instructing officials to take strict action against individuals deceiving the public with promises of multiplying their money through chit funds and other schemes, Sh Nayab Singh Saini said that if anyone operates a scheme involving irregular money deposits, a decision has been made to ban the registration of any property purchased through such means. Additionally, he directed authorities to identify and take firm action against those involved in sending youth abroad via donkey routes, ensuring that no one can exploit the future of the youth.
While directing all Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to stay overnight in villages, the Chief Minister said that it is their duty to ensure justice for every individual in the state and to alleviate their suffering. He urged all officers to spend time in the villages, interact with the people, listen to their problems, and work to resolve them. He made it clear that any negligence in protecting the interests of the poor and low-resource families would not be tolerated.

Chandigarh, January 17- Haryana's Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Shruti Choudhry held a meeting with department officials at the Housing Office in Chandigarh. The minister lauded the decision taken in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini. She said making women sarpanches brand ambassadors of their respective villages will strengthen the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi.
In this regard, the minister directed the officials to contact the concerned department and prepare a further roadmap.
While reviewing the works of the department, Smt. Shruti Choudhry said so far, 4,000 Anganwadi Centers in the state have been developed into sports-based education and nutrition centers. In the next five years, 10,000 Anganwadi Centers will be developed as Saksham Anganwadi Centers.
She directed the officials to provide good, nutritious and hygienic food to the children so that Haryana becomes the first state to become stunting-free by improving the nutritional level of children. She said a grant of Rs. 563 lakh has been received from the Government of India to upgrade 563 Anganwadi Centres. Along with this, the department has also sent another proposal to the Central Government to upgrade 2307 Anganwadi Centres.
The minister said 4,000 arrests have been made regarding illegal activities of doctors, quacks and brokers in a bid to improve the sex ratio. In future also, the department has been directed to take immediate action if such cases come to light.

Chandigarh, January 17 - Haryana's Forest and Environment Minister Sh. Rao Narbir Singh said Babu Mohar Singh played an important role in promoting education in various districts of Haryana and was the father and pioneer of a revolution in education in the state.
The Forest and Environment Minister said this today during the inauguration of the newly constructed memorial of the first MLA of Ahirwal region, Babu Mohar Singh, at Government Senior Secondary School in Kanwali village of Rewari district.
He said our youth should contribute to the development of the country by following the path shown by such a pioneer of educational revolution, sharp politician, unbiased social worker and visionary thinker. During this, the minister also planted saplings in the school. He said we all have to be serious about environment protection. We have to stop the wastage of paper so that the cutting of trees is minimized. Instead of printed cards for weddings, people should be invited online. He said he himself followed this by sending an invite online for a wedding in his family. On this occasion, the minister also announced to give Rs 21 lakh for various works in the school.
It is worth mentioning that Babu Mohar Singh became MLA for the first time in 1942, second time in 1946 and MLC in 1954 in undivided Punjab. Apart from being the first MLA of Ahirwal, he was also the first graduate from Ahirwal region and graduated from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. After studying law from Lahore University, he ignited the educational revolution in Ahirwal and opened about a dozen educational institutions in the region. Due to lack of educational institutions nearby, women faced a lot of difficulty in getting education. In view of these circumstances, he made notable contribution in opening Brain High School, Rewari, Jubilee Ahir School, Rewari, Shri Krishna High School, Kanwali, Ahir College, Rewari, J.B.T. Centre, Rewari, Craft and Drawing Teacher Centre, Rewari, Dronacharya College, Gurugram and Shri Krishna High School, Dhana Khurd, Hansi.

Chandigarh, January 17 - Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Sh. Shyam Singh Rana said excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is adversely affecting the land and the environment is also getting polluted. He said by adopting natural farming, we can improve the quality of the land. Naturally grown crops are more healthy and also fetch higher prices in the market.
Sh. Rana was addressing a district-level workshop organized by the Agriculture Department in Radaur town of Yamunanagar district today to make farmers aware about natural farming. The Cabinet Minister also visited an exhibition related to agricultural equipment at the venue.
The Agriculture Minister said natural farming means cultivation of microbes. Our natural resources are being overexploited due to chemical farming and along with the increase in the cost of the crop, there has been a stagnation in the yield as well.
The minister also honoured progressive farmers of the area. He also made farmers aware about not burning crop residue.
On this occasion, experts gave detailed information to farmers about various schemes related to agriculture and natural farming. The schemes being run by the departments for farmers and the documents required to avail those schemes were also explained in detail.
